Hiya, if you’re following me or liking my stuff and currently believing that the people of the UK are being crybabies about the heat, kindly leave, the inherent sign of global warming that shows is concerning. It’s the UK they are literally known for rain and cold weather, so much so that most infrastructure there doesn’t require an A/C unit, meaning 80F is sweltering there it’s humid so it’s also muggy and they have no A/C so they have to open windows which lets that hot humid air in, you’d be suffering to. And some may ask, “Snorri, why butt into this conversation” , that’s simple I’m human I have compassion and sympathy and can look past complaints to see the real problems. Hospital machinery is suffering, grocery store cold sections are going down, people are getting heatstroke because they don’t know how to handle that much heat. I’m from Texas, I know heat, just last week it hit 115F multiple days in a row. I used to live in Houston, it’s so damn humid there, add when it hits 85-90F my A/C unit would struggle and even go out at times. I once spent the month of June in a second floor apartment with no A/C the entire time, I had to buy an industrial fan and put ice water in front of it to simulate a cool breeze. I’m was so grateful for the ceiling fans, which by the way the UK don’t really have.

The sound I heard before the pain struck my breast, gasping for air I stood up regaining my bearings.

The horses were long gone my lance busted in the exchange, my squire hurriedly running to give me my sword.

I look upon the other rider, equally disoriented his helmet damaged and dented inward, I waited for his squire to help him remove it. No honor attacking someone that can’t see. I remove my helm as well dropping it to the ground.

I take my sword from my squire and advance forward as they start to get the helmet completely off his head, flowing long black hair fell from it. We locked eyes stunned for a moment, I in her beauty, her most likely in confusion at another lady knight, yet I advanced for it was a duel in honor of my liege, my king and I could not dishonor him further.

She swung first raising her flailed mace above her head, I blocked with what was left of my shield, as it made contact I felt nothing but pain in my ribs, looking down during the onslaught I saw the tip of her lance was embedded in my lower rib slipped right under my breast plate.

I sucked it up and pushed back against her, taking wild swings to back her off long enough to lower my shield and see her, blood and hair covering her face. I lunged at her thrusting my sword she caught it her mace and yanked it away. My sword flying out of my grasp, I raised my shield just for her to bash it to pieces.

She kicked me down, disarmed and battered she picked up my sword. Holding it under my chin,she looked to her liege and mine for them to call it but they sat in silence and disregard of my loss. She looked me in the eyes pity in hers, we knew what must happen.

“Any last words?”

“ I think I love you”
