On this, the anniversary of the lunar landing, let us also celebrate the greatest post-mission achievement by a crewman.
I refer, of course, to the time Buzz Aldrin (age 72 at the time) cold-cocked a moon landing conspiracy theorist straight in his smug face after being accused of being a coward, liar, and thief.
Yes, someone was indeed dumb enough to tell a man so unafraid of death that he was willing to go into the void on a fragile explosive rocket, a coward.
Said dumbass was filming this confrontation as some sort of proof of moon fraud, but has instead captured this glorious moment of near-cosmic justice for us to loop for all time.
Aldrin was not charged with any crime. He should have been given another medal for public service.

Hi Ms. Ice! I hope you’re having a good day! Thank you so much for everything you’ve done!
In honor of Moon Landing Day, I wanted to give a shout out to Hidden Figures, celebrating three of the incredible Black scientists that got the first man on the moon—Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson!

everyone i've talked to about this has been completely unaware so: if you didn't know already, there's going to be a solar eclipse, with totality or coverage of 90% or more in some places, over a lot of europe, on august 12th 2026. in the uk it will start just after 6pm, and the maximum will be at 7:13pm.
here is a map of the path of the eclipse (from timeanddate)
get eclipse glasses if you want to look at it. it is not safe to look at through sunglasses. ok informative post over o7
mostly missing me but i know a bunch of folks that are right in the path 🥰 enjoy it for me, my lovelies!
The fact that at the lowest point of knowledge for me as far as things like racial dynamics in this country, my friend and I at seventeen and in the midst of our senior year, were talking about this?
We both recognized the privilege that came with having American/Western names.
Me? Because I'm the descendant of chattel slaves, have a mother aboard the respectability train, and an am junior despite being a girl. So American first name. Last name is likely that of whoever owned my father's ancestors.
My friend? She's a child of immigrants and I didn't know that. Not until she showed her original name. At some point, her parents had changed it. Gave her an more American sounding one.
But yeah, I don't know how many times we need to have this conversation about AI and the biases injected into it routinely.
It started with something "innocuous" and more excusable to many. "Oh, you just can't wash your hands because the soap dispenser doesn't recognize dark skin? That's nothing."
Now people are being arrested for crimes committed in different states. States they've never even been to. Great job.

My spouse and I were talking last night and the jeans problem came up so I want to talk about it with tumblr here.
The jeans problem was the favorite lecture one of my philosophy professors in college gave about the history of jeans and how it ties into capitalism/mainstream culture absorbing and monetizing any counterculture it encounters. So prior to the 1950s jeans were mostly an item of work-wear that you wore on the job as a farmer or factory worker or miner because they were cheap, durable, and hard-wearing. If you were off the job you'd wear what we'd call now dress pants or slacks. This changes in the 1950s when youth culture start wearing jeans as regular clothing, again because they're cheap, durable, and hard-wearing. But then jeans get absorbed by the culture and we start getting designer jeans, acid-washed jeans, pre-ripped jeans, and now we got people shelling out hundreds of dollars for "povertycore" aesthetic. And now jeans aren't even cheap, durable, and hard-wearing.
This came up because my spouse was talking about thrifting and spooky things (two of her favorite things) and how there was this trend of buying a landscape painting from a thrift store which was probably going to end up in a garbage dump and painting a sheet ghost on it to make it art millennials would like. But now you can go to Michael's or Home Goods or wherever and just buy a landscape painting with a sheet ghost on it, mass-manufactured by a corporation. The counter-culture once again being monetized and absorbed by the culture. It's the jeans problem again.
:D After 39439 years, I finally finished my Manga Blerdy Girl's illustration! It definitely took a bit longer than I expected, but I'm happy with how it came out! It's hard to believe that my previous ones and this current one are 3 years apart LOL. Hopefully it doesn't take me another 3 years to finish Cosplay and Comics. But what are your favorite manga to reread? I've read Skip Beat twice and I might have to read it again because I have no idea what's happening in the story right now lol __________ NEW PRINT AVAILABLE HERE INSTAGRAM KO-FI
I can honestly say i’ve never seen a more entertaining ladle.
“Shaving for men is not the same as makeup for women, you know, even though they are similar rituals on the face of it, so to speak. Shaving is a revelation, a paring off of layers of dirt, dead skin, and unwanted bristle. It lays bare the man, and he can’t hide from himself. But makeup is a pasting over of the cracks, a concealment— not a conceit, because makeup can only work with what you’ve got in the first place. It’s a guessing game, but one that intrigues me. I love women in makeup. I want to know what’s underneath but without removing the pancake, mascara, lipstick. No, they’re not dolls. They are actors in an ancient theatre, real people playing fantasies, actors playing characters wearing comic or tragic masks. I am as fascinated by the mask as I am curious to remove it. So I stroll up to that unisex hairdresser someone recommended. I want a short back and sides like my dad; I want it really short, so short that no one will be able to resist running her hands over my hair, against the direction of growth, to feel it bristle busily under her palms. No one, thank god, can resist that bristle. Yeah, I want it to cut and bristle; I want clean straight lines. Then up the West End. Oxford Street, New Bond Street, Knightsbridge? Yeah, let’s go to the posh places, get good clothes with a good cut, dole out a bit more dosh because it’s going to be worth the extra. I want to cut a clean straight line. I want a suit, a nice tailored sharp man’s suit, and a smooth pair of boots I can see my face in. I want a crisp shirt that feels like it crackles when I move. Listen to me: sharp, cut, bristle, crisp, crackle; like breakfast cereal. I’ll make so much noise that they’ll hear me coming before I arrive. I want to cut a clean straight line.”

A popular convention question! I’ve included a photo of Pixel having a melancholic time in a cat carrier as well! 😔 Our cats really don’t like being taken outside of their house!
Talking of conventions, we’re going to be at Hyper Japan this weekend! We’re excited! We’ll have loads of nice things, come and say hi!
I feel like simply calling JK Rowling a transphobe isn't strong enough anymore. Like. This is not your grandpa calling you by your deadname at a restaurant kind of transphobic. This is her wanting to eradicate all trans people (with an extra special hatred towards trans women specifically). This is her trying just that by personally funding transphobic hate groups with millions to push around laws in the UK. It is not hyperbolic to call her a dangerous, genocidal maniac.
It's not about cancelling a problematic writer. It's about literally trying to save lives by denying her as much money and power as possible.
