You'd been waiting for this day. Your heart was beating to the same rhythm as the horses' trotting outside. Norns, you'd never been happier to hear that sound in your life. But now that you'd heard the sound of the troops returning home, you knew you would not be disappointed by what you'd see when you went down to greet them. Finally. Finally, he was back home to you.
You'd dressed accordingly, of course. In a green gown, one of his favorites of yours, paired with some golden adornments and jewelry. All with your diadem, a tiny match to his horned helm, meant to represent your place in the royal family as the princess consort.
You sped down the corridors, and then down the countless steps until you found yourself outside, in the large, enclosed courtyard of the castle, where the troops of Asgard were currently assembling. Naturally, he was there. At the front, but behind Thor and the Warriors Three, on his favourite steed. A beautiful brown stallion. He was dressed in his finest Asgardian armour, with all its leather and metal freshly cleaned and polished. It gleamed in the sunlight. But most of all gleamed his horned helmet, making him look as regal as ever. How you'd missed him. How you'd missed all of him.
His eyes caught yours. They always did, and it never took him long. It was as if your souls were destined to find one another anywhere. He grinned, though he tried to keep it sly, as he dismounted his steed, handing the reins to a nearby soldier with a final pat to the side of his horse.
His walk to you was slow. Purposefully teasing, although you knew he was just as desperate to be near you again. And indeed, no matter how aloof he wished to remain, the moment he reached you, his arms were around you and pulling you close, his lips to the underside of your jaw.
"My sweet, beautiful darling." He whispered there, kissing your skin.
"Loki..." You whispered, your own hands coming around his shoulders.

“You have… and yet that does not stop you from carrying injuries.”
“Hmm.” He mused, pulling back to look at your face. He smiled tenderly at the sight of you, and his eyes moved over you, seemingly just now able to pull themselves off you and onto your outfit. “You wear your diadem, my darling. How proud you make me, carrying my name with you whilst I am gone. And my colours, too. Such a fetching dress you wear, darling. Did you select it with me in mind?”
“Yes, my love. However, do not try and change the subject.” You replied, you now pulling him in closer and kissing his cheek.
He sighed and shook his head fondly.
“I shall let you look me over during our bath. How does that sound?” He proposed, his true intentions clear from the way his lips had curled.
“Our bath?” You asked, coy. “I bathed only this morning. I do not need one. You, however…”
“I, however, need my wife to comfort me and offer me company during my own, yes, you are right.” He finished for you, raising a brow pointedly.
“If I join you, I will not be offering much in terms of riveting conversation, my love.”
“Mm, yes. What a shame. We shall just have to let our bodies converse then, in the language they know best: passion.” He purred, already clearly eager for you.
And indeed, now that he was back home to you, he did not much care to keep up the act of a prince leading his realm’s army alongside his older brother. He, much to happily, left the rest of the work to Thor (without telling him), and retreated inside the palace with you. At your questions as to why he’d abandoned his brother like this, he simply shrugged.
“Whenhe gets married, if he does, he shall understand.” Loki replied sagely, practically running up the stairs with your hand in his.
“Husband, I thought you would be weary after returning from battle.” You chastised, making him finally (conveniently) slow down right as you’d questioned him.
“Oh, yes, I am…” He said, suddenly sounding quite winded.
You glared at him in response, fully aware of what he’s doing. He stopped, a few steps higher than you on the staircase and grinned, spreading his arms wide.
“I shall feel better, to be sure, once my wife embraces me in her loving arms.”
“And when will that be?”
“In… our bath?” He suggested, hopeful.
“So I would be naked, then?”

“Well, I am already naked for our bath, and yet, you are not. I believed you would be joining me. It is not polite to keep your favourite prince waiting.”
“I am joining you.” You replied calmly. “Eucalyptus or lavender?” You asked, holding up two small vials for him to see.”

He scoffed gently.

“It is already warm.”
“Well, then what in the Norns is stopping you?” He rolled his eyes, arms spread wide and resting on the sides of the built-in tub.
His sullenness disappeared, however, when he saw you reach behind yourself to undo the laces of your gown, his eyes lighting up.
“Oh my…” He purred, watching you intently. “It has been so long, that only seeing that is enough to tempt me into a state of wild lust.”
“I thought you were already in that state from the moment you saw me.” You sassed.
“Such a clever mouth.” He tutted. “How I’ve missed it.”
