the most important virtues for the young woman are as follows: time theft, selfishness, orgasms, irreverence to authority, sacrilegious behavior, a questioning mind, and eating regular meals.
i mean this genuinely i think the pitt s2 would have been significantly better if they had made baran al hashimi the lead character. we should have started with her driving in to work instead of robby. would have made the clear case that the show is not the story of one man but of an entire industry. would also allow the show to center a different set of traumas and struggles as well as a different approach to governing and tackling the weight of responsibility inherent to er work. in so many ways baran’s hyper competence and strict adherence to rules would serve as the perfect structural parallel to the more cowboy er act of robby and abbot in s1. her reveal of a life long struggle with illness which she ruthlessly plans around so that it never effects her work, how she is hyper collaborative and still fucked over, how even her breakdown is kept off the company clock would be a perfect callback to robby’s own much more self centered break down. and switching protagonists opens a discussion about how men and women are held to different leadership standards, as well as who we expect to see at the helm of a prestige television series. and who ends up in the background.

Doing this drawing of Baran made me sadder than i thought it would but at least i got to look at Sepideh's face for like 20 hours

been thinking a lot about sepideh's recent interview and how she says that baran's decision to tell robby about her condition is her way of saying "i understand you. i understand that we're cut from the same cloth; so here is my olive branch of understanding. i want you to love and accept me for who i am - so here is the rawest, most fragile part of me", and how robby just throws all of her vulnerability right back in her face and shatters all and any hope baran has of ever "fitting in" at the ed with him in charge,,, :') LIKE. sepideh states it herself!! baran sees this as a "heroic gesture" because she's sacrificing how robby had seen her then, for him to see her in a different light. she's actively, desperately hoping that he sees her as just another person, and not somebody he is conditioned to hold dislike against. she is willing to ruin herself just so that he would look at her with more than just malice in his eyes, and yet it doesn't work out for her in the end. fuck dr. michael robinavitch. we're riding for baran al-hashimi at dawn holy shit 😭😭😭
still pissed that ogilvie said he thinks the ED is too hard and that he should go into peds or family med. and instead of using that as a moment to teach this med student that those specialties are not less difficult or less heartbreaking, whitaker says “yeah you can do that, but i’d be soooo bored and i actually like being important here” like ?????? i get that this is the ‘we love the ed’ show but these two specialties are both in the list of highest burnout and stress rates so idk why the fuck that was necessary. the ed jumps out at the top, but these follow closely afterwards. especially given the fact that those two specialties are female dominated; it just felt a little weird to have these two men talk about how the ed is better and more worth it and how tough they are for choosing it. it is that deep to me
my biggest problem was that al hashimi did end up getting painted as someone who apparently can't be trusted to lead this place. her neurologist literally cleared her, she told him, she was excited about it! if they have one attending on shift(like robby's been doing) and there are multiple trauma's, shit will also hit the fan. an accomodation to have two attendings is fucking normal. him not accepting her accomodation and seeing her as someone who can't handle it all is ableist.
he's massively overcomplicating it, when she knows exactly what to do. she will report it, she will get that appointment, she will probably start meds, and it will be fine. she might take a break, who knows. depends on the meds and how it develops like i said in an earlier post. to make her feel pushed out all day, not let her know anything, and then tell her she's incapable when she already knows exactly what she's gonna do and how to do it safely? he is not her fucking doctor, he doesn't have shit to say about it. he might be the chief and it's good for him to know, but the fact that he's acting like it's his call is fucking diabolical. that's between HR, her specialist, and herself.
thinking about how heather collins has wanted a baby for years, but never was able to. thinking about how she moved back home to start a family, and we didn't get to hear anything about how she's doing besides one throwaway sentence. thinking about how this season was all about a little baby and how heather would have been the perfect choice for kinship adoption, how her dream could have been fulfulled while she gives an abandoned baby a new and safe home. thinking about the story we could have had about her reckoning with the fact that this is probably the one shot she has. thinking about how it has only been 4 days since her residency was officially over, and right then and there a baby falls into the hands of the ed, right out of her reach. how cassie or dana probably are in contact with her and will text her about their 4th of july shift. how she knows she'll be adopting in oregon but that she'll know that baby doesn't have a home yet. about how we could have such juicy storylines with her journey about fertility and motherhood. sigh. healther collins i miss you
they turned the lights off because baby jane doe is autistic

MENTOS KARAOKE SCENE WITHOUT THE CREDITS ‼️‼️‼️
something about santos having a history of self harm but having enough self preservation skills to get herself someone to spend the evening with. something about her knowing she might hurt herself if she's alone so she invites someone with her. something about santos making friends when she's had the worst day ever because that's when she needs it most. something about santos making both whitaker and mel feel less alone without realising it. something about her caring for others when she doesn't have the energy to care for herself anymore
