#I've lived in areas with high levels of crime all my life.#if you are genuinely at risk of home invasion or lack of safety you do not fucking process it like that #there is a specific type of disconnect that people with very nice lives have #i have never personally met a person in any of the actual at risk communities ive lived in who was like #'oh im gonna advertise that i have a gun and will hurt a home intruder :)'#like maybe its a poverty thing. maybe its the proximity to black and brown people.#but like that's how you end up on the hook for something you did not do.#I used to clean houses for middle to upper class people #had a convo with a white lady where she was like 'haha just dont touch the gun in the bedside table :) it's pre loaded :)))'#she was so blase about it and the fact that her husband was sitting there like 'yeah ill blast an attacker :) its locked and loaded :)))'#and like all the people i knew who actually had been home invaded they used baseball bats machetes or wasp spray #bc a gun is a distancing object.#it allows for the fantasy of violence without actually thinking of the implications of the horror that would be taking a life #I have so many thoughts about that lady and her husband and their lock box of ammo and gun in the bedside table #it was truly an obscene amount of bullets too. enough to survive a zombie apocalypse #and even having grown up in a southern area with a strong gun culture it was like really startling #there truly was a vindictive gleam in the husbands eye that made me reevaluate the way some of my family members handled guns #and i realized that they also had a sort of murder lottery they were praying for #they were just close to me emotionally and hid the gleam better. but that man didn't see me as a person to worry about or protect #I was help so i was a third useless thing. so in that moment he stopped caring about how i perceived him #and like it's hard to know how to deal with it bc i knew so many people who thought that as a kid before i realized the violence to it #so i saw them as safe people before realizing they purposely nurtured a violent fantasy that let them be a hero #so i know for some of them its also a passive sort of suicidal fantasy in the way dying in battle is for some #but i also know it's a side affect of a festering wound that begets fear and manifests as cruelty

Shawn almost exclusively wearing Converses and Vans through the tenure of Psych is probably one of his more unhinged decisions. I've worn those shoes my whole life, there is no foot support whatsoever and he's getting chased on a bi-daily basis. Running either for his life or his dignity with no protection between him and the hard cruel ground. I just hope that Gus convinced him into buying orthopedic inserts offscreen bc there is no way it's sustainable to run full tilt in when the only barrier between you and the world is like five millimeters of rubber. Gus is no better though bc what is he doing running from getting shot at in dress shoes?

Tried to tip a tumblr blog at 1am and it was such a suspicious transaction it immediately put a full fraud freeze on my account

Fortunately, banks no longer just ask 'did you make that transaction' they want to make sure you weren't scammed into making that transaction and 5mins after their call will give away all your money anyway.

This is an honest to goodness life saving movement and I cannot be happier banks are adopting it

Unfortunately, it meant I had to have the most embarrassing financial call of my life

Me: no I was just on tumblr...on purpose

Caah: and this person asked you for money?

Me: oh no they just had a funny story, which happened to be about money and I thought, "wouldn't it be funny if I tipped them"

Cash: okay I don't think that can actually happen though..

Me: It might not have, but i was happy to tip them just because it was funny

Cash: and how well do you think you know this person?

Me: *considers explaining how much I know about a beloved mutual without ever knowing their name or face* ... I have no idea who this person is
