Romanian death metal dealers, SCYTHE, are steeped in OSDM influences in the vein of DEPRAVITY, RIPPING CORPSE, IMPETIGO, and BAPHOMET, combined with modern elements recalling similarities to contemporary bands such as MOLDER, CRYPTIVORE, and COFFIN ROT. Formed in 2023, the rotten quartet—featuring drummer David Rolea, vocalist/bassist Andrei Constandache, and guitarists Mihai Panait and Andrei Oglan—released its debut demo the following year. On the band's debut full-length album, Boiled Alive (initially released as a digital-only independent release in February of 2026), the band included three previous tracks from the demo, which are now receiving an official label release from Awakening Records. Across the album's eight savage tracks, SCYTHE delivers a plethora of death/thrash compositions, loaded with filthy, fleet-footed transitional riffs, a barrage of barbaric rhythms, and disgusting, inhuman guttural vocals. At a perfect 34-plus minute album runtime, the replay factor is immediate.

WARTHRASH were formed in 2005 in Medellín, Colombia, and have gradually evolved from their early thrash roots towards a heavier, darker sound that incorporates elements of classic death metal, whilst retaining the speed and directness of thrash. “No Light Shall Remain” by Warthrash is a powerful album from this Colombian band – raw, direct and determined to make a strong impact. Whilst it may not be particularly ambitious creatively, it certainly delivers with the necessary ferocity. Intense razor-sharp Swedish Black Metal attack! Behind FLYKT are two veterans of the Swedish black metal scene. Vocalist Andreas used to belt it out on the mic for VALKYRJA, whilst guitarist Joel was a member of BLOODSHED and REV 16:8. In 2016, the pair decided to go their own way as FLYKT, and so their debut followed in 2019, with an EP released shortly afterwards. A full seven years later, the duo are now gracing us with their second album, “Sinister Strain” – but then again, a proper piece of work takes time. Musically, FLYKT sound – believe it or not – very Swedish. They sit pretty much exactly between the dark, aggressive melodies of WATAIN and the precise, destructive fury of MARDUK.
