he knew what the Clave thought of their sons & daughters taking up with Downworlders, but isn’t that what they might even yet call him? he was a child born to the Nephilim & a demon, & while he might be useful to the Clave, he was also just as demon-blooded as Jason was, theoretically. even so, he loves how the other’s face lights up & then softens. the touch to his own face surprises him but he leans into it for a long moment, nuzzling into his hand. it’s not often he knows the touch of another, especially such a gentle one, & he craves it like nothing else.
‘ yes, ’ he says with a smile, already thinking of all of the places he’s wanted to explore, wanted to show Jason that he’s discovered within the city, & then he’s reminded - Jason’s a warlock. the other could easily take them anywhere if he so chose. that opened up a world of possibilities. ‘ she is a sweetheart. how has she been? ’ he asks belated. ‘ I know all of this has been quite trying, and I’m glad the two of you have support in the city. ’ he moves away finally, gathering up his things & stowing them. regardless of when they plan to go out, he’s done for the night. ‘ when works best for you? ’
ersken’s enquiries about his daughter make him smile, a lovely pang in his heart at the way the nephilim’s interest was genuine. jason isn’t ashamed to admit that treatment of his adopted daughter was the dealbreaker for him. the younger warlock was the light of his life, truthfully, and jason had little time for people who don’t understand that. but from the very beginning, ersken was absolutely delightful to ginny, and she was quite taken with the shadowhunter as well. ❛ she’s doing well. i think that the concealment spell i had imbued her necklace with has served her well. i was hovering on the idea of letting her start mundane school, or just interact with children her age. but i think it’s the right decision. she needs friends her age, for now. ❜
jason watches ersken for a beat, tapping his chin as he thinks on a date. a date. it makes him somewhat giddy. it has been a while since he’s been on one, the last time was some years ago with a man who he initially thought was intriguing but turned out to be utterly boring. ❛ well, i would have to look at my calendar now wouldn’t i ? though i’m not dreadfully busy, ginny sure is. ❜ he laughs, thinking on how his life has turned out. he never really expected to be a father, but he promised ginny’s mother to take care of her. ❛ i’m thinking next friday night perhaps ? i know an excellent spot for dinner and cocktails. i’m quite fond of the espresso martinis they do. ❜
