Anima Mortalis is a technical brutal death metal band from El Salvador. The band was founded in 2024 by Juan Carlos Sánchez and Daniel Melgar and has set itself the aim of portraying reality as it truly is: cold and relentless. The name Anima Mortalis, which means ‘mortal soul’, reflects the band’s perspective on human existence. The band’s debut EP, "Relics of Inhumanity", explores the darkest aspects of human existence and sheds light on both the inner struggles of life and the destructive forces created by humanity itself. Through themes such as nihilism, existential meaninglessness, moral decay, violence and ideological extremism, the lyrics depict a species trapped within its own nature and the world it has created. The EP presents humanity not as a victim of its circumstances, but as the architect of its own downfall, leaving behind only the remnants of its cruelty. Musically, Anima Mortalis combines elements of brutal death, technical death and black metal to create a sound inspired by existence itself – suffocating, relentless and brutal.
