very excellent paisley parks from ch 90
man if one of my homestuck posts is going to get notes again, it should at least be one of the good ones
Hi, everyone! My friend @orange-airplanesâ and I have both been working to make our blogs more accessible spaces for everyone, and together we have created a doc for meme image IDs! Image IDs are used to make posts accessible to a wide range of people, and we know how hard it can be to start writing your own. This doc is meant to let people copy and edit image IDs of generic memes to take out some of the stress and effort of transcribing images by hand. It is open to edit so people can add their own templates with IDs, and weâre happy to hear suggestions about possible improvements! The doc will also contain a list of additional resources on image IDs for further research.
Hereâs the link! Happy transcribing!
[image description: a three page comic starring ness and Paula from earthbound. they are beneath a grave yard. In the first page, paula snaps her fingers to ignite PK fire and says, âyes, got it!â once it ignites.
in the second page, Ness looks at the PK in wonder and says, âwoah.â Paula says, âNess, youâve seen me do this a hundred times.â Ness replies, âand itâs still super cool!â Paula uses the pk fire to get a fire going while Ness asks, âsay, howâd you find out you had PSI?â
Paula says, âso Iâve had telepathy for a while, right. But I thought that was normal. Like, people talk to their pets all the time. So I thought they understood them too.â She is seen holding up a cat. When she says I love you, the cat says love you back to her.
On the third page Paula says, âbut on my 8th birthday, my parents couldnât find anything to light the candles on my birthday cake. So I was thinking, weâll, âI wish we had fire for the candles.â And I lit the table cloth on fire.â The panels feature a younger paula who panics at the sight of the fire. The present paula asks Ness, âwhat about you?â Ness replies, âWell, I watched Air Bud and made my dog float on accident.â End ID]

âYou look at trees and called them âtrees,â and probably you do not think twice about the word. You call a star a âstar,â and think nothing more of it. But you must remember that these words, âtree,â âstar,â were (in their original forms) names given to these objects by people with very different views from yours. To you, a tree is simply a vegetable organism, and a star simply a ball of inanimate matter moving along a mathematical course. But the first men to talk of âtreesâ and âstarsâ saw things very differently. To them, the world was alive with mythological beings. They saw the stars as living silver, bursting into flame in answer to the eternal music. They saw the sky as a jeweled tent, and the earth as the womb whence all living things have come. To them, the whole of creation was âmyth-woven and elf patternedâ.â

It really is pretty dramatic how almost every article about how trans people are placing unreasonable demands on society focuses primarily on transfeminine people and almost every article about how trans people are poor delusional victims of the medical-industrial complex focuses primarily on transmasculine people.
This point felt less obvious back when there wasnât a book called The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters.
a what now?
I ⌠did not realize that was actually real.
It sure is. When you search transgender on Amazon it is the first result! Iâve actually been going through the horror of annotating and reviewing it (worry not, I pirated it. I would rather die then give Abigail shier money). Itâs won several rewards and is one of the best selling books in the western world. It is the book that popularized âROGDâ (Rapid Onset Gender Dyphoria) a term used to prevent trans masculine people and trans men from receiving trans and medical care and is often used to back anti-transition laws in both the united states and the United Kingdom (and likley many other places).
Wait, yâall are only finding out about this book now? Itâs been like a year sjjdnd
Yeah, that fucking thing is like the TERF Bible. Itâs the same thing I was talking about in my other post just now. The main title is âIrreversible Damage,â and it promotes the idea that the medical-industrial complex is preying upon girls and young women (they infantilize teenage girls and young adult women a LOT in this book btw), especially neurodiverse girls/young women, and that transmascs cannot be trusted to make our own medical decisions and should be âprotected from ourselves.â The concept of ROGD is specifically applied here to transmasc teenagers & college-age young women. The TERFs are REAL mad that they canât control their sons/children in college, because those adults can make their own choices now.
This is actually a really good bit of coverage of it (if only part 1 of 2, I donât think part 2 is up yet) from a scientifically critical, trans-affirming perspective, if youâd like to know what the TERFs are aiming at transmascs these days without actually having to like
read that shit
because itâs fucking horrible.
And like, I absolutely recommend reading that article, because this shit permeates the discussion about trans ppl, especially in the UK and on Twitter.
That Book was recently (like, this past week) included in an American Booksellerâs Association promotional âwhite boxâ sent to independent booksellers in the US, and trans ppl and our allies got understandably really pissed that a book of unscientific, nasty-ass anti-transmasc propaganda thatâs been out for a year is like⌠in a promo box. So they took the ABA to task for it.
The ABA put out an apology (full of passive language, like these things just happened rather than that someone did these things, which is pretty fucking rich for a booksellerâs association, like they thought that the kind of extremely literate people who run independent bookstores wouldnât notice) and so like⌠the book is receiving renewed attention from the same sort of First Amendment transphobes who love to screech about censorship when their favorite bits of propaganda get pushback. Youâll probably see a lot more of the ideas this book pushes in the near future.
So, like, yeah. It exists, and people are talking about it a lot, so knowing what kind of garbage is in it and what weâre up against?
Unfortunately necessary, IMO.
Also, I need to underline that this book specifically also attacks transmasculine non-binary people, not just trans men. They donât really see any difference between us.

man yâall remember when the avengers movie came out and everyone headcanoned that all the avengers would live together in the tower and had all these cute posts about various fun ways they could interact and then the movies literally never had any of them even be friends
I want to state, for the record, that âall the avengers would live together in the towerâ wasnât collective headcanon, it was canon. The very last scene of Avengers (2012), the one they left us on, is Tony redesigning the tower, designing a living area for each Avenger. That was, canonically, what was supposed to happen, in canon, and they just changed their minds and decided to⌠not. For whatever goldarn reason.
GHHFDGJHFDS THATS EVEN FUNNIER WHY IS MARVEL LIKE THIS

I feel like I need to tell everyone how brilliantly the Globe incorporated a deaf Gildenstern into the 2018 Hamlet and then force all of you to watch it
ok, so Gildenstern is played by a deaf actor, Nadia Nadarajah. he* signs all his lines, and either Rosencratz interprets for him, or the person heâs talking to says something that makes it obvious what he just said, depending. how each character reacts to Gildenstern is completely in-character and often hilarious
Claudius and Gertrude are intensely awkward around Gildenstern. they obviously donât know BSL so they just gesture emphatically but aimlessly when they talk.
Hamlet, who of course is friends with R&G, *does* know BSL. he starts off by signing fluently whenever heâs talking to them but, as his distrust of them grows, he signs less and less until heâs only signing the equivalent of âfuck offâ whenever he talks
Polonius just shouts really loud whenever he tries to talk to Gildenstern
itâs all brilliant and adds another layer of humor and pathos and you should all watch it
*casting at the Globe right now is gender neutral so Iâm just going to use the characterâs pronouns
guys I know Iâm wittering on about this but the thing I want to emphasize is that there is no tokenism here. they didnât just shove a deaf actor into a speaking role so they could pat themselves on the back about how progressive they are. they went to the effort of fully integrating Nadarajahâs deafness into the story so that it not only fit organically within the narrative but actually enhanced it. watching Hamletâs signing disintegrate as his trust in R&G disintegrates adds a depth to that storyline Iâve never seen before. Claudius has exactly the awkwardness of someone who thinks of himself as a good person and therefore thinks heâs being kind and generous with his accommodations for disability, but has never even once actually asked a disabled person what they need, which is so on-point for his character it hurts.
I know Michelle Terry gets a lot of hate mail for her policy of race-, gender-, and disability-blind casting, but fuck all those people. long may that policy continue.
the glenda jackson production of king lear on broadway did something similar with the Duke of Cornwall, and it was actually the best part of the play, imo. because when Cornwall was speaking to Lear or to the Court, he had a sign language interpreter to speak the actual literal words aloud, but when he was talking to and conspiring with Regan, his wife, they were just signing back and forth with no translation for the audience, and it emphasized the intimacy between the two even as they turn against literally everyone else in the play, which was fantastic.
and the best part of it was, by the second half of the play, you were so used to it, that you didnât even blink anymore when watching him and listening to the spoken words come from the interpreter - you just watched the actor playing Cornwall and let the words come from the other guy, but the guy kind of fades into the background. it didnât hurt that the actor for Cornwall was one of the tallest on stage, and had bright red hair - it was easy to watch him, instead of his interpreter.
which is why it was so shocking and so perfect when the interpreter is the one who kills him.
See, they folded the character of the servant who kills Cornwall into the person of this character who had been such a non-entity that you almost forgot he was on stage - until you realize, no, this is another person, and heâs been here, watching all this the whole time, and he finally gets to the breaking point where he canât stand by and translate anymore, he has to do something to stop the cruelty heâs seeing, and itâs not just a random guy who comes in for the scene and sees them blinding Gloucester, itâs the man whose been by his side for the entire play, the man who was his voice who finally has a line of his own. who finally speaks on his own behalf to say âno.â
and then, of course, he gets killed, but Cornwall dies in the same scene so itâs not like they need to get a new translator or anything. but it was the most fucking brilliant choice iâve ever seen re: casting in a Shakespearean production, and the rest of the play pales in my memory in comparison.
that post going around about how tumblr used to tag everything with eyes as âscopophobiaâ is so fucking stupid because literally every example of âhaha look how dumb tumblr wasâ is a picture of someone/something looking directly at the camera aka something that could trigger someones scopophobia and therefore was properly tagged. like uhhhhh maybe bother thinking for once in your life?
use more olive oil
I didnât even notice the url I was just like damn theyâre right.
