Pregnant as a teen trans guy
I never thought I would end up in this situation, but here I am, and I hope that this can be signal boosted to reach people who can help, donate, or at least give me advice on what to do.
I'm a trans guy, I go by the name "Kai", online, but my real name is Theo Krusee, (my deadname, which will be listed on my PayPal and Cashapp is Khalia Krusee)
I've been dating my now ex boyfriend for almost four years, and recently, because of a screw up with my birth control, I ended up pregnant. Because I continued to take my bc after, I thought for a while that my missed period was simply because of birth control, and I didn't catch the pregnancy until I was at my local hospital doing blood work in preparation to start Testosterone. Unfortunately, the stress of the situation was too much for my relationship to handle, so I'll be going through this alone.
I'm barely 18. I'm a full time college student, and I have no job or insurance. Until now, I've been living off of savings, and a family college fund, which I will be kicked off of when my parents find out that I'm pregnant.
I will likely be opting for adoption, because I found out when I was already 8 weeks pregnant, and because I am in no financial or emotional position to keep and take care of a baby, however, regardless of what happens, there are medical costs coming soon that I have no way to afford.
So far, even just the prenatal appointment for confirmation of pregnancy, with both blood and urine testing, and std/sti screening has cost me almost $500 out of pocket.
"For a healthy pregnancy, your doctor will probably want to see you on the following recommended schedule of prenatal visits: Weeks 4 to 28: 1 prenatal visit a month. Weeks 28 to 36: 1 prenatal visit every 2 weeks. Weeks 36 to 40: 1 prenatal visit every week."
These will range in cost, from as low as $60, up to almost $1000 for certain medically necessary tests.
This isn't even taking into account the cost of birth, and newborn hospital care, which where I live, in California, without insurance a vaginal birth can cost between 10,000 for a healthy and uncomplicated birth, to more than 30,000 dollars for a c-section, a complicated labor, or an unhealthy pregnancy.
Midwife and Doula fees are much cheaper, usually $4,000- $6,500, but at this point in my pregnancy, I have no way of knowing what complications may arise, and if a midwife guided home birth is even possible for me.
I am stressed, emotional, heartbroken, and terrified for my future. My transition will be on hold for at least the next 8 months, likely more than a year, I will be kicked out by my parents in around 4-6 months when I can no longer deny the pregnancy, and will have to drop out of college to work full time.
I know that I am the person who put myself in this situation, but I really need help, from anyone who can. Even if all you can do is donate a dollar, or send this post to a friend, I'll be so beyond thankful.
In the next few posts I'll add medical papers that confirm what I'm saying, pictures of myself, and info from my current OBGYN confirming what the costs will be.
Thank you for reading to the end, I appreciate your time.
