You know, there's this cliché that teenage boys always eat massive amounts, but teenage girls really aren't that different if they're not suppressed by diet culture and body shaming. Like, I was a teenage girl who frankly just stopped bothering to fit into mainstream beauty ideals at some point, and I would regularly make myself just one big massive pot of pasta and devour it completely. This wasn't even stress eating or anything, I just genuinely needed the energy because you know, I was a teenager and my body was developing. I feel like so many teenage girls think they need to eat as little as possible to be petite and pretty, but the truth is that your body is developing just as intensely as teenage boys' bodies. Eat more, please, your body needs it.

"X did nothing wrong" actually no, X did a lot of things wrong. X fucked up. But I also know that people like X live their lives under a microscope, and that accusations against them tend to get magnified by bias both conscious and unconscious alike, and frankly it scares the crap out of me that you have not only chosen not to question what you've heard, but that you are seeking such drastically disproportionate vengeance on a total stranger. that's not normal.

this post has generated a staggering number of comments/replies/asks all saying some version of "Nice try laundering your argument, but we all know you're talking about [specific person], and i hate you for defending them." and literally none of them have correctly identified who i was thinking about when I wrote this, but all of them have named a trans woman as said specific person.

so there's a new SCP movie in the works. this is a bad thing because the entire SCP project is licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0, which means that any derivative works based on it (i.e. this movie) have to be released under that same license, and that license explicitly permits no-cost reuploads. like piracy of this movie would be explicitly legal. the only exception would be if they tracked down and got explicit written permission from every collaborator who has ever contributed to any of the stuff they touch on in the movie, but the authors on the site are just as surprised as everyone else, so they didn't do that. the movie is being made by a UAE-owned production company so either they're aware of this issue and are fine with making 0 money on an expensive movie, or they're aware of this issue and are going to attempt some legal bullshit to screw over the writers who wrote 90% of their movie. IP law helps creators btw

I'm really not exaggerating, this seems to have become Jacobin's entire schtick. "this is a thing that people think communists don't like, but they actually do/they actually should!" They've run articles in defense of religion, nationalism, and the family. I'm beginning to wonder how exactly their "democratic socialist" utopia is supposed to be any different from what we have now.
