My contribution to the @color-palettes community palette of the month, I Scream! I just got into cross stitch so it def looks a bit raggedy, and the top of the green border doesnât match the bottom bc by that time I was honestly just freestyling a bit lmao đ but I had fun learning how to stitch âșïžđȘĄ
Any time I have a pleasantly blank expression on my face, just assume Iâm recalling something mortifying I have done or said and am actually screaming on the inside. Itâs definitely 9/10 odds
i think the luckiest moment of my life - at least, the luckiest moment i'm aware of & can remember - was when i poured HOURS of wrist-grinding labor into nÄlbinding baby socks with no pattern & vague measurements pirated off a machine-made baby sock, and they turned out weirdly long and skinny. and then the baby was born with such weirdly long and skinny feet that the only socks that fit him were the ones i made. what a very specific little lottery to win.
Iâve started using chewing sticks to brush my teeth and tbh Iâm surprised that zero waste people arenât all over these things.
Chewing sticks are basically sticks from specific trees that you strip some of the bark off, chew to loosen up the inner fibers, and then brush your teeth with said fibers. You cut off the fibers every other day and strip off more bark so the sticks also force you to keep replacing your toothbrush a bit better than normal ones do because youâre literally whittling them down to nothing over time.
No toothpaste required because the sticks naturally have fluoride in them and being, you know, sticks, theyâre biodegradable by nature. So no plastic from the toothpaste because there is no toothpaste and no plastic from the stick because itâs a stick.
Some brands sell them wrapped in plastic but you know, not all of them do that. And you can get a reusable container to put them in when youâre not using them.
But because zero waste people are super into finding complicated ways to reduce plastic usage I was surprised Iâve never heard of these things being discussed in the zero waste YouTube channels Iâve watched. They talk about like bamboo toothbrushes and refillable toothpaste and whatnot. Not chewing sticks.
Iâm using them because I can just keep one in my pocket in its little container and theyâre super stiff and my gums need strengthening according to my hygienist. (Note if you decide to use these things your gums might bleed the first few times because the fibers are so stiff)
Iâm not really using them for environmental reasons but they seem like the sort of thing that extreme tree huggers would like. But no, the only people using chewing sticks seem to be me and people trying to make sure they donât accidentally swallow toothpaste during Ramadan.

Not all dogs have jobs and I think they should get to wear little vests too
there is nothing lemon squeezy about any of this
UBI needs to happen. via antiwork
I think most importantly, it would give us the leverage to say ânoâ. To walk away from bad jobs and abusive managers. To refuse to work in unsafe environments. To demand better pay.
To demand better, because the options are no longer âsuck it upâ or âdieâ.
The counter-argument: Not having UBI is in the interests of those in power who want to do anything to the people they are in power over in order to remain in power.
If the greed of the few should come before the need of the many.

weird how abled people don't want you to have supports because it may Annoy Them. no, you can't have a shower chair, it'll get in my way. no, you can't put subtitles on, im here to watch a movie not read. because the needs of the disabled are somehow lesser than the wants of the abled.
"oh but subtitles are distracting to me"... don't you think it's more distracting not knowing what anyone's saying properly
ever noticed how its always the kindest most selfless ppl u know who are terrified of being evil in some way and the worst people on earth always seem to be utterly assured of their own rightness đ
