if you think that an adult writing about a young person is weird, you are chronically online. set this aside while you read, i'll make a point at the end.

i am not speaking about SMUT. minors are not fully developed and mature people and it should not be normalized for people to write porn about them. minors are not adults.

does this mean that adults, at the legal age of 18, have fully matured? not exactly. some people take more time to mature, and some take less. although it can be a very personal and a very delicate topic, different for several people, 18 is considered to be the age where a person has grown enough to be considered an adult; legally, you ARE, whilst mentally, you could or could not be.

and so, is it okay to write smut about freshly 18 characters? it depends. let's not lie to ourselves, some characters are made for fan-service and will obviously have porn about them no matter how immature and childish they are on the outside. focus instead on "normal" characters.

other characters may already act more on the mature side and with - hopefully - most characters, it nearly never feels weird to see porn about them. at least, not like others.

i personally think it can be unsettling to see some obviously immature and childish characters to have porn about them even though they are of age; and this is mentally, but even worse when it's physically.

"she looks and acts like a FETUS, but she's actually 18 years old, so it's okay!" it is weird. i'm sorry.

about minors being exposed to porn. i'm not going to sugarcoat it, the internet is a bad place and honestly i would never recommend letting a child below the age of 12 - in some cases, older - have free access to it.

age is a very important factor. exposing children and pre-teens to porn is NOT healthy for them, because they lack the maturity to understand it, and they do NOT have the need to. LET KIDS BE KIDS.

on the other hand, for people who are beginning to grow, perhaps 16 and on, it is completely normal to begin to feel more inclined to sex. this is the time where their bodies are changing and growing and it is also the time to be educated about sex and learn how to grow along with your body and be comfortable with your new self. as long as they have an healthy relationship with it, let them be.

now that this is settled, MINORS please understand that you are exposing yourself to many things and although you may feel like it, sometimes you could encounter some things you are not old enough to digest, and it is okay. to avoid this, try to limit your search.

please do not feel like you are wrong for having sexual desires, or for wanting to learn more about sex. you are not, this is normal for the age i've discussed about, but because you are exposing yourself to danger you should be very careful and try to stay safe and away from creepy stuff and people.

i am trying to ask you to please not show off porn you are reading or watching. to please not make it public you have interacted with it. it can be DANGEROUS for you.

although i am sure many adults that create this type of content are aware that minors can reach it, they cannot be blamed for being uncomfortable and wanting to hide it from younger people.

in my opinion, the whole "minors DNI" on NSFW content is mostly for minors themselves. as an adult, you should be aware that some minors are going to see it, but it is your responsibility to block them if they decide on interacting with it, as you can't know how your content will affect them personally.

back to the initial point that i made. it really is sad that these things have to get to the point where people get weirded out when seeing a completely normal fanficition about a character that is a minor.

plenty of authors introduce characters that are young in their stories. books. mangas. any genre: horror, thriller, crime, even romance! because romance without the sexualization of that character who is a minor EXISTS.

even in "x you" fanfictions which really are popular, when they are about cute little things and completely innocent, i don't see why you should be weirded out.
