my feeling abt legend of korra has always been that not being driven by cringe nostalgia bait uncritical reverence for the original series and genuinely trying to do something new + comment on the events of atla from a more adult perspective was one of its best qualities. the series has problems & i don't always love the choices they made in this regard. but good gd i would much rather have stuff like "aang haunting the narrative via his fraught relationship with his children" "what if two women dumped this fuckass man and dated each other instead" "what is the role of the avatar in a modern industrialized world" than just fucking watching 3 different remakes of the original show
