ok very funny guys. you got me. now seriously who left all these neurotypicals in charge of the mental health field
who left all these healthy doctors in charge of the hospital
is literally what this sounds like
God, can you imagine how awful that would be? People with amputations consulting on things like prosthesis?
People in wheelchairs designing living and working spaces for people with mobility issues?
Autistic people actually trying to help other autistic people?
OMG, just thing â wouldnât ti be awful if people who are now in remission actually helped manage the pain and other symptoms that come with having and treating cancer?
I mean seriously, what on Earth do any of those people really have to add to the discussion? What could they possibly know that an able-bodied neurotypical wouldnât already know? I mean, experience doesnât teach all that much!
/end sarcasm.
My care for EDS got radically better when my doctorâs kid was diagnosed.Â
Dr. Marsha M. Linehan more or less reinvented the field of behavioral therapy after spending years being treated to the worst 1950-60s psychiatry had to offer. She created the system now known as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, now considered one of the most effective treatments for suicidal and self-destructive behaviors, as well as pretty much any other form of mental illness or mood/behavior disorders. She was able to do all of this BECAUSE sheâs self-diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, not in spite of it.
The only therapist, out of the many I have seen over the past 30 years, to succesfuly treat my anxiety? The one who had anxiety herself. Not a coincidence. Â

I think I already reblogged this but im gonna do it again because this is a good reminder on how toxic gatekeeping it.
Iâm reblogging this for the amount of thought that was put into figuring out the necessary configuration for a mertaur wheelchair.
MMMMM, the LAYERS to this.Â
Sheâs technically a monster too. She might not look it at first glance and seems mostly human, but it isnât deniable even despite her looks compared to the other monsters.Â
But she realizes that she is still not like the rest of the monsters either and may not have entirely the same experiences as them, which is why she feels that she might not belong to or deserve to go to the support group. By sometimes passing as human, she feels she isnât worthy of the space.Â
The sad reality though is even though sheâs mostly human in appearance, that tail she has undeniably would still cause her some struggle. Humans are still gonna look at that tail and think sheâs a freak. There are probably still accommodations she needs because of the tail that she may still struggle to have access to. Even if it is just the tail, that tail is still enough to other her from humans and cause her problems and discrimination.Â
She should get to belong in that support group even if she gets told sheâs not monster âenoughâ. She still shares some of the same struggles as them that are caused by being a monster, and needs support.Â
This is an excellent demonstration of the flaws in the concept of passing privilege. Bravo to the artist.Â
NOW I will reblog this.
I think a surprising amount of writers donât realize that tragedies are supposed to be cathartic. Theyâre intended to result in a purging of emotion, a luxurious cry; the sorrow caused by a great tragedy is akin to fear caused by a good horror movie â itâs a âsafeâ sorrow, one that is actually satisfying to the audience. It can still be beautiful! Itâs isnât supposed to just be salting the earth so nothing can grow.
But thatâs how you get grimdark: writers who donât realize that theyâre supposed to be doing something with the audience instead of to the audience.
#i once heard a lecture where someone said that the great appeal of tragedy is to see terrible things happen to people youâre supposed to#empathize with and see yourself in#and that the catharsis comes from seeing someoneâs life go horribly wrong and still have the author hold your hand and tell you#âthis story mattered. even though it had a sad ending it still mattered. even if you donât succeed your attempts matterâ#grimdark tells you that the world sucks and nothing you do matters#well-written tragedy tells you that sometimes the world sucks but everything you do matters so so much#your story is still worth telling even if you never achieve that happy ending#or if you lose it along the way#people have inherent value and their stories deserve to be told no matter if they turn out okay or not#and in a reality that has no concept of âfairâ that shit just hits good man!!! feels good!!!!! itâs COMFORTING
I like how everybody is paired off haha
#this looks more like an awkward sixth grade slow dance than it does hockey
I FINALLY FOUND OUT WHY THIS HAPPENS. You see this all the time when thereâs a fight or a scrum and suddenly everyone pairs up with a member of the opposite team and they just sort of âŚhold each other.
Someone on reddit asked about it. And it turns out thereâs a logical-ish reason:
all of the other players pair off with their man to prevent anyone else entering into the fight ⌠so itâs a form of self policing.Â
[âŚ] The players basically want to prevent 2 on 1, etc. fights and by finding a âhuggingâ partner so thereâs no ganging up on one guy, even on accident. They do it because itâs fair. And itâs kind of cute sometimes.
so now we know! itâs fairâŚand cute.
Aw best part is no ones left out at this dance
#hockey hugs #more or less #:))))))))Â #whereâs that one of Karlsson and Mike Green #that oneâs priceless
=DDD
NHL: You need to prevent other playerâs from joining in the fight, make sure to hold them back
Hockey players, hugging: Got it.
nursey, chowder, ransom, and lardo having a âWe Love Our S.O.s So Much But We WILL Make Fun Of Them For Being So Whiteâ group chat and itâs just full of shit like âlmaooo look at this pic of dex crying during date night bc the food was âtoo spicyââ and âcait is insisting that she doesnt dance like a white girl :((( she IS a white girl :(((â

"i've gotta get out of this place. someday i'm getting on that train."
and the coastal town we never found will never see a love as pure as it.
I get the joke, and itâs pretty good, but the historian in me canât take Marie Antoinette slander.
She was only 14 when she became queen. 14. She was widely hated because she, being a child, couldnât immediately start birthing out heirs to the throne.
This festered into resentment from the noble class, who infamously framed her not only for massive spending of taxes on frivolous things like diamond necklaces (the most famous instance), but also of just general fraud to the country (she was a foreigner and they treated her like one). Like, donât get me wrong, she definitely spent money. But itâs far less than the public made it out to be, and far less than even her fellow nobles.
On the off-chance she got to hire her own staff, she would hire somebody who was friendly to her (since literally everybody else hated her since day 1). But oh man that just whipped up the nobility even more, with cries of favoritism (as if their entire life wasnât just thatâŚ)
Further, the bankruptcy of France can be far more attributed to her father-in-law, Louis XV. He obliterated Franceâs economy trying to wage a war with all of Europe. But, women usually get far more blame when things go wrong than men. Women do be spending money, am I right fellas. Hillaryâs e-mails.
She was young, female, and a foreigner â who the other nobility hated, and so they largely blamed all of their countryâs grievances on her (moreso than even her husband, who was actually in charge of all that stuff). I mean, they killed him, too, but the woman is the one who gets blamed.
Anyway, she watched 2 of her children die (from illness, not from the guillotine, at least), before she got the guillotine a year later.
She accidentally stepped on the executionerâs foot, and her last words were, âIâm sorry, sir. I didnât do it on purpose.â
And all of that is no better summarized by the fact that this meme is a play on âLet them eat cake,â which she never said. That too, was wrongly attributed to her. When he wrote that, Jean-Jacques Rousseau was writing about the person who actually bankrupted France, her predecessor.
Hereâs a really great biography of her.
tl;dr
Marie Antoinette was a foreign teenager who got caught in a deadlier version of âWhy are millennials killing the napkin industry? Itâs probably because of all the avocado toast.â
THANK GOD someone out here knows actual history. iâm so sick of people shitting on her! she never even said the line, it was completely made up propaganda!
The millennial thing plus the obsession with how much AOCâs shirts cost
