But then Dustin gets busy with assignments and doesn’t have time for Steve to visit, and all the kids are already traveling or working or doing internships over the summer, and by the time June rolls around, Steve still has nary a romantic prospect in sight. His dreams of an adventurous summer road trip seem to be fading before his eyes, so he does the only thing he can do: he complains to Robin, Nancy, and Jonathan about it. “I told you you shouldn’t have bought that thing,” Robin says, shaking her head. They’re in the basement of Robin’s uncle’s house in Philly, sprawled across the futons and armchairs as they sip their beers and ignore the movie playing on the TV. “What do you mean?” Steve says. “It was a good investment.”
