Endless Night

Modern day Gabrielle shines to me with a kind of mean-spirited whimsy that really works and we also have seen in Lestat. When she bullies the delivery robot and when she mocks the man at the strip club ('Oh, do they have spaghetti?' was way more funny than it had any right to be) were little moments that I appreciated

The way she avoids reciprocating Lestat's emotional grasping like redirecting after he admits to missing her (in a way Louis sometimes did in season 1). The way they switch from seemingly easy conversation to skirting something nasty and back while pretending they aren't ('And now we're not?' 'Your Father's tongue.') are really interesting. They make the brief moments where her and Lestat are just catching up and getting along the more sad.

And that mean-spirited whimsy again initially when she's asking to see what's got Lestat so enamored of America, like its all a joke to her as she lists off the mundane, the gross, the 'I want to play cornhole'. And the way that attitude flips when she sees him serenade Louis and realizes that this isn't something Lestat is going to get bored of or move on from, which makes her pause and reevaluate.

I even really like the framing that up until now Gabrielle's major association for Louis is the aftermath of the murder attempt. There's a lot of room for interesting conflict and growth between the two of them I hope gets explored.
