i'm getting myself increasingly upset because theres a concept and an idea in my mind but i dont know how to communicate it because every time i try to put it into words or anything its just not adequate!!!

maybe one could argue its a bit on the nose but i really think thor, before going to bed each night, resting mjolnir on the throne of asgard such that he is unable to sit down unless he lifts it first.. really good. really really good

i have such a solid vision in my mind of how thor and loki met and its before any sort of appearance-altering enchantment is applied to loki so hes standing there seething in his ill-fitting robes made of materials so richly adorned and finely woven he has never encountered their like before and if anything thats just making him madder. and then along comes the stupid crown prince of this arrogant realm!!! and he looks loki up and down and, young and as lacking in decorum as he is, asks "why are you blue." and loki is sooooo utterly and completely befuddled by the question he just forgets to be angry. cant even muster up a response to that one. doesnt even get a chance to before thor is dragged away anyways. and then hes just standing there in this foreign land being poked and prodded and hes supposed to be soooo mad right now. its still present, but too far in the distance now to feel its heat. hes just gotta stand there and scrunch up his face and clench his fists and. why is he blue.

the thing about all the asgard stuff in the mcu is that the loki tv show is actually significantly worse than love and thunder. because at least love and thunder was continuing the awful, awful character work of a prior movie (even if it was masterminded by the same person). the loki tv show did all of that by itself on its own. it wasnt forced to reckon with insane decisions established by something else. it was, in fact, exclusively working off of a characterisation that was so popular and beloved that it had firmly established its lead as a fan favourite. they just had to continue that trajectory, broadly-speaking. and instead they put their hands on their hips and were like. ok that guy sucks. lets make up a brand new guy. and hes not going to have anything that other guy had. personality? certainly not. we're making up a new one. but dont worry we'll still pepper in some wilfully misinterpreted aspects of the original. iconic costume and associated colours? uhm. beige shirt. brown tie. brown trousers. sorted. whats next? oh. backstory? no we dont really need that. we gotta include it? ohhhhh fine. make him watch a powerpoint that gets him up to speed. anything else? OH! smacks forehead. of course! his family, who had previously been established as the most important thing in his life? not needed. ok. slaps thighs and stands up. lets get this show on the road

and we shall round up everyone responsible for the loki tv show. and we shall throw eggs and tomatoes and such things at them. until they apologise.

sorry i just remembered they put loki in a shirt and tie and made that his definitive outfit for a while. like. hhhhhhhh. like they. they put the flamboyant trickster god in a shirt and tie and slacks and sensible shoes. as his main costume. for a long while.
