i’m obsessed with the paradox of how living as a transgender woman in a backwater rural area can actually be “easier” in a certain limited aspect, which is that the people there are so bleakly incapable of even spontaneously conceptualizing the hypothetical existence of transgender people that when they encounter you, they will… they’ll… i’m not saying this from “our” perspective but “their” perspective: they will dynamically & dramatically revise their unconsciously observed limits of how ugly a woman can hypothetically be, if this proves necessary for preserving their intuitive reality
