one of those days i'm glad i haven't ever bothered getting my aussie passport despite being eligible for one

genuinely me when we used to play HORSE in pe at school and i'd stand there thinking why do we have to go on and play actual netball/basketball after this. HORSE should be in the olympics

i know some keepers write notes on their bottles but the squeezing cannot be anything but a power move

so i'm dead serious i'm NOT the right person to ask because i am a serious casual, don't follow a club properly know very little about the ins and outs of the game basically just whack a match on and vaguely pay attention for most of it. i think to be fair a lot of it is about understanding of the game because like, goals do not just happen out of nowhere, they're set up in every aspect of how a team plays from the outset and i'll put my hands up and say i have genuinely just never been arsed to actually learn how football works in that level of detail, like when it's half time and the commentators say shit like "ohhhh they were playing very wide you know" i'm like sure, i guess, idgi but i'm having fun. so i think it is honestly probably more enjoyable when you actually understand why teams/players are doing what they're doing for the full 90 even in a game that's more of a slow burner, rather than just waiting for a big dramatic moment. would LOVE for my more ball knowledgeable mutuals to chime in on this because as i said, i actually know fuck all i'm just here for fun. i do think tbf especially during a big tournament just getting swept up in the tribalism of it all is a big part of the appeal. sometimes the true appeal of sports is cheering really loudly for your guys and brutally slandering whoever they're playing against and That's the fun of it
