There’s a quality that certain books/movies/TV shows have that leads me to say, “Yeah, I can see people making fanfiction of that.” It’s something to do, I think, with how tight the story is, how much feels open-ended or like it could be elaborated on.
Something like Breaking Bad, for example, has low squiggability (that’s what I’m calling this quality). It’s tightly written, the characters are consistent, there’s little left to interpolate or extrapolate. Obviously, people DO write fanfic of Breaking Bad, but it still has a low squiggability score. Whereas something like Supernatural has a high squiggability score. Fantasy and science fiction often have high squiggability scores. This suggests squiggability could also be related to worldbuilding and potential for people to borrow a premise or setting.
And sometimes you’ll read or watch something and you’ll say, “Ah, low squiggability,” and then you’ll open tumblr and find out that everyone else seem to think its squiggability was very high indeed.
the pitt is hilarious for cast of suicidal characters because you see a guy literally get talked off the ledge five minutes into the pilot episode and think damn okay he’s really going through it and then thirty episodes later you catch yourself thinking god i wish everyone else here was as well adjusted as the guy who nearly threw himself off the hospital roof in episode 1 and gets shot at recreationally to abate his suicidal thoughts

15:A song that is a cover by another artist i still to this day cannot believe how harsh the online reception was to david byrne's cover of drivers license, to the point that it seemingly tanked the entire sour covers project. i think it's absolutely brilliant.
20:A song that has many meanings to you there are certain songs i've had in my rotation since i was in my early teens and as such they have been migratory blorbo songs for practically every fandom i've been in since that point. i could tell you the myriad associations i have with certain songs off paramore's brand new eyes (in fact i'd say that entire album is an example of this to me) but you would actually laugh your head off

6:A song that makes you want to dance in a very specific way, i have mentally envisioned an ENTIREEE tap break for sunshine (never trust anyone named jeanette) by boys go to jupiter (and elaborate staging for the entire rest of the song). unfortunately i don't know how to tap but i am delusionally confident that i'd be good at it if i tried because how different can it REALLY be from organ pedalling

hey can i get a music ask? can i get a number three please im making a summer playlist
i alwaysss bring this up for summer songs so apologies if i'm repeating myself but every single time the temperature goes above 20 degrees like mariah by fifth harmony ft. tyga goes on REPEAT. my fave moment in the entire song is halfway through tyga's verse when the full production kicks in it makes me want to stick my head out of the window of a moving car like a dog
