bella deserved to have time for herself, separated from edward’s memory. she should have had time to sever her connections from the supernatural world that she never was supposed to know about, and to rebuild positive connections to the human world around him. she should have had happy memories of bonfires on the beach with good friends, of game nights with charlie and billy and jacob, of studying with angela and ending up laughing over something ben said, of late night movies cuddled with jacob.

bella deserved to fall in love slowly, not all at once attracted by supernatural beauty. she deserved found family, ones that weren’t constantly arguing about and belittling her opinion concerning her morality. she deserved a friendship with leah, bonding over losing somebody they both loved, learning to heal and grow apart from it together.

bella deserved love. she deserved her mother’s care early on; she deserved charlie taking care of her in her teens. she deserved friends who were there for her during her depression. she deserved jacob’s warm laugh when she felt like crying, she deserved his kind words when she talked down on herself. she deserved his hand in hers, walking through sunlit parks, tanning with renee in jacksonville.
