dead internet theory but it's realizing that most of the people you see posting about comics do not read comics

every time i post something like this someone gets mad at me but i really don't know what to tell these people. every year we get an influx of people who will enter these spaces for a shared interest in comics that they not only have not read, they often have no interest in reading and sometimes will actively degrade the entire medium to justify not reading them. and if you express any discontent with this arrangement you're the bad guy for not enabling a deeply incurious practice of not wanting to engage with art or its creators beyond digestible abridged versions plastered over slideshows of out of context panels and stolen fanart

anakin and padme have their kids and run away to raise them in isolation on naboo as planned & the years go by & the kids get to the age where they need to see a space dentist. & padme’s like well you take luke i take leia we go to dentists on the opposite side of the planet we go in disguise and this is literally fine. this will work. & so anakin takes luke on a space road trip to the space dentist office and the whole way there he is so fucking intense. he is looking baby luke right in his little eyes and going Now Is Not The Time To Fuck Around. Do You Hear Me. This Is Serious Shit. This Is Space Dentistry. because like there was only one dentist for the slaves on tattoine, he was a tiger hybrid alien & his name was “snarl”. and he was a mean motherfucker he’d pull out all the teeth if a kid so much as cried. so that’s anakin’s reference point and he’s hunched over luke going Snarl Ate A Kid’s Eyeball Once. so by the time they get to the space dentistry luke is so goddamn psyched out that he sees the dentist and just immediately explodes all his equipment with his mind. all of it. all of the liquids and stuff boil over. & so then anakin has to take luke for space ice cream as an apology & go Well. My Bad.

the way the fandom tries to “batfam-ify” every major section of dc and turn their dynamics into dumbed down found family ones is annoying, but the way people overcorrect this by saying that they’re all just coworkers is annoying as well. like, the human green lanterns are definitely NOT just coworkers. i don’t even know how one would arrive at that conclusion. hal keeps pictures of ALL of them in his trailer and he brought john, guy, and kyle to jordan family get-togethers. they are very very important to each other.

the batfamification is connected to buzzfeed personality quizzes for harry potter houses where the 4 options are a) bravely b) humbly c) evily and d) smartly to a question about how you fucking eat cereal in the morning. i just cant prove it
