Un cráneo de murciégalo de la especie incorrecta a la que quería originalmente. La foto de referencia estaba etiquetada erróneamente como murciélago de la fruta jamaiquino cuando es un poco obvio que es un vampiro. En parte fue mi culpa por no fijarme primero, pero al menos yo tengo la excusa de tenia sueño.

Un torbico harlequín ticked no es una raza, sino una descripción precisa de cómo se organiza y expresa el pelaje de un gato. El término reúne tres elementos distintos: la condición torbico (tabby calicó), la distribución de blanco tipo harlequín y el patrón atigrado de variedad ticked.

El concepto torbico hace referencia a un gato que es esencialmente un tabby calicó. Esto implica que porta el gen naranja ligado al cromosoma X —el mismo que produce los pelajes carey y calicó— pero, en lugar de presentar la mezcla marmoleada típica del tortie (tortoiseshell), expresa el gen de manchas blancas. Este gen modifica la distribución del color: separa los tonos negro y naranja (o sus diluciones, gris y crema) en parches definidos sobre fondo blanco, en vez de mantenerlos entremezclados. Aunque el mecanismo genético de base es el mismo que en los carey, la presencia del blanco dominante cambia radicalmente el resultado visual. Por eso es importante distinguir entre torbie (tortie con patrón tabby) y torbico (calicó con patrón tabby): en el torbico, la estructura del color es la del calicó, no la del carey marmoleado.

A esa base calicó se suma el patrón tabby, que en este caso pertenece a la variedad ticked. El ticked no muestra rayas corporales marcadas como el mackerel o el classic tabby. En su lugar, cada pelo individual presenta bandas alternadas de pigmento claro y oscuro, creando una textura visual más uniforme, casi salpicada. Las marcas atigradas suelen apreciarse con mayor claridad en la cabeza —líneas faciales, contorno de ojos— así como en patas y cola, mientras que el cuerpo parece más homogéneo dentro de cada parche de color.

El término harlequín describe la proporción de blanco. En esta distribución, el blanco predomina ampliamente en el cuerpo, dejando solo grandes manchas bien delimitadas de color en áreas concretas, como la cabeza, el lomo o la base de la cola. Es habitual que la cola aparezca completamente coloreada, reforzando el contraste con el fondo blanco dominante.

El fanfic es una serie llamada "Going Home" en AO3 de @catbauldron, es un found family de Batman que se lanza mucho mas en el área del terror gótico de lo que hace el canon. Eso no significa que no tenga su buena dosis de investigación crímenes, solo que hay otros elementos mezclados con dichos crímenes de los que los personajes tienen que cuidarse (y los que no estén mezclados y son cosas mas personales).

El fic vale totalmente la pena y lo recomiendo.

The fanfic is a series called "Going Home" on AO3 by @catbauldron. It's a Batman found family story that leans much more towards gothic horror than the canon. That doesn't mean it lacks crime investigation, it just has other elements mixed in with those crimes that the characters have to be wary of (and some that aren't mixed in are more personal matters).

The fic is totally worth it and I recommend it.

And, if @catbauldron is seeing this post, I should mention that I asked beforehand. This is just a practice sketch of Barbatos's head that I ended up really liking and has now evolved into a practice sheet for rendering fur (the sheet is winning), although I'm still not sure if I like it for Barbatos himself.

Perhaps it's because it's just the head; it makes more sense if you see the full-body design. I took the Jersey Devil concept to heart (though I stopped myself from giving it horns), so I tried to combine the canine head with the goat head from the original myth and blend them, though I totally think I could do it better.

The other thing is trying to make it look intimidating but also something you might say is "cute" in a weird way, so my choice was to give it a really scary amount of fluff. That way it looks more like a fruit bat, and it plays on the concept of animals that make themselves look bigger and more intimidating. Aside from that, and giving him a beard (because "barbatos" means "bearded," it would be a crime not to) and an extremely long tail that I may or may not regret in the future, I tried to make the design as accurate as possible, taking into account the physical descriptions you give in the fic. I might also make a more "demonic" version.

Me, still full of zest for life: So, I want this story to have about 10 chapters, but I know it could be more because I know myself.
