they should invent a disproportionate emotional response that goes away when you understand it's disproportionate. they should invent a way to logic yourself out of emotions
I genuinely don't understand what Americans find so confusing about the question "Poppadoms or Bread?", specifically the poppadoms part. Do you not have them over there??
'albon... has lots of pets, which i know because i've... been there' boy everyone knows he has lots of pets, you just wanted to say you've been in his house. AGAIN.
kind of an evergreen tweet for f1 fans

George making up for last week's Alex slander immediately in this week's Grill the Grid
I think some of y'all would really benefit from learning the scope of power of various political offices.
Are you trying to tell me my local schoolboard doesn't have the ability to declare a unilateral ceasefire with iran?
If they try hard enough and are pure of heart... still no.
they should give you the option to unblock in these circumstances. just to see the drama unfold
does anyone know how to get what you want when you're the type of person who avoids everything
sorry if this is a stupid and/or weird question but your response to that anon talking about people experiencing orgasms during childbirth made me wonder if there's a certain point in development after which it'd be weird for pregnant people to have sex or masturbate, since after a certain point the fetus(?) can hear? like, should people do it quietly or does it just not really matter? sorry again but i am genuinely clueless
should. should pregnant people have sex quietly so their baby doesn't hear?
okay even assuming your unborn child can hear you fucking. it's like having sex in front of your stuffed animals or your dog, dude. they have absolutely no understand of what is going on. they don't give a shit. at no point is any person who has ever or will ever be born going to go "oooooh man I think hearing my parents fuck while I was in utero really fucked me up actually" that's not how anything works. they're too busy going "mmm yummy amniotic fluid" they do not know or care that sex is happening
I swear this is a consequence of the "life begins at conception" propaganda. Combined with the recurrent moral panic about "protecting children" (from knowledge).
Absolutely rancid combination of Christian morality with Christian morality.
I'm sad to say that the rise of fascism has been visible in my inbox for years as people become increasingly distrustful of their own bodies and pleasure. you see it in people's paranoia around becoming "porn addicts," their need for reassurance that a 24 year old isn't a predator for dating a 22 year old, their fears that they may have unwittingly committed assault by looking at another child's naked body when they were young, their insistence that consensual sex is impossible for anyone who has had a single drink or smoked a whiff of weed. people, especially young people, are doing a tremendous amount of work for fascism in terms of rigorously policing their own bodies and sexual expression, and they often don't even realize it.

When one of my moots that I've labelled 'famous' in my head interacts with me
if you're hyped for the f1 wedding season imagine how hard the f1 divorce spree is going to hit in roughly three to seven years
People really be out here acting like it was Kimi Antonelli who seduced Toto into doing all this shit for him, but like...I truly believe Toto Wolff doesn't actually give a flying fuck about Kimi or even think he's that special. Not really.
See, I think it's clear that Toto's obsession with Kimi is about proving that he himself is a genius with a magical eye for talent. It's about proving that Toto was right all along for all the decisions he's made.
It's about Toto trying to make up for failing to recognize Max Verstappen's talent way back when and missing out on the driver of a generation and trying to undo that mistake 15+ years later.
Kimi is the chance to hit back at Horner and others. That's literally all he is.
Just look at the radio message after Kimi's first win:
"He's too young. We shouldn't put him in a Mercedes. Put him in a smaller team. He needs the experience. Look at the mistakes he makes.' Here we go, Kimi. Victory."
There's relief there, like this is validating everything Toto has been hoping for. The message isn't even about Kimi. Toto doesn't mention his drive, or anything about the race, or his skills, or congratulate him on a move or decision, nothing. Regardless of how you feel about how Kimi drove in that race, it's still strange that Wolff says nothing at all about it.
It's Kimi's first race win and Toto's message is only about how right he was. That says a lot.
And then, there's the press conference quotes from after that race:
"When things go bad, there are people who come out and say, 'That was a bad decision,' and 'Mercedes took too much risk.' And it was never really harsh criticism because people recognise the talent that he has..."
"But there were many voices within the sport and outside that said, 'That was a mistake to do.' So it's nice to have a little revanche."
It's very interesting that he focused so much on countering the perception that himself and Mercedes made a mistake and doesn't actually say anything of substance. Or anything about Kimi at all, actually.
And I would say that's because none of this is actually about Kimi.
And in another interview:
"Kimi has been a Mercedes driver since he was 11. Ferrari should have done the job six or seven years ago, instead of realizing now that they have a good Italian driver. Of course, they'll do everything to get an Italian driver."
Translation: I am right, I am a genius, I saw him before everyone else, look at how amazing I am.
And then there's the nonsense about Kimi being more educated than other drivers and all the incessant talk about how young he is (because that was the thing about Max). Toto can't do anything about the fact that Kimi is older than Max was when he first won, sure, but he can go for youngest WDC.
And all of that together means that, if Kimi isn't absolutely amazing - not just good, or decent, but completely incredible - after all the limbs Toto's gone out on for him...then everyone will know he made a mistake. Again. And he cannot have that.
And thus, the trash-talking of George. The delayed upgrades. The straight-up sabatoge. The fact that even Damon Hill thinks Mercedes is fucking with George's car.
Because Kimi has to be amazing. Not for himself, or because Toto cares about him, but so that Toto can be a genius with the ability to see the future.
Kimi is just a vessel for Toto's pride and validation, nothing more.
And that's honestly pretty fucked up.
you guys really need to stop saying that people don't contribute to a fandom unless they're making fanart or writing fanfics or doing something creative where the final output is "content".
i've seen enough posts parroting this sentiment that makes me believe it's not just one person's dumb take, but a growing belief and that boggles my mind.
commenting, engaging, encouraging, and yes, even geeking out about your favorite artist or your favorite fic IS contributing to a fandom. it is vital to the general fandom ecosystem, the way creating and sharing fanworks is!

people on the internet: you shouldn’t hate people for the kind of media they enjoy! stand up comedians should be able to make jokes about whatever they want and it’s not okay to wish harm on them for it!
