trans women can't do anything about this. if they try to argue back, they're framed as AMAB freaks wielding their male privilege by the people who are attacking them. it's an unwinnable situation because trans women, as a class, are not capable of oppressing the people who are ideologically dumping them. it's happening in droves in "AFAB queer spaces" by covert TERFs who are literally recruiting them. it's low key incredibly terrifying to see.

there was a recent ruling (6 days ago as of my posting this) that states can exclude TRANS WOMEN AND GIRLS SPECIFICALLY from sports teams. this gives LEGAL PRECEDENCE for states to, specifically, discriminate against trans females (in this sense, meaning transsexual women and girls).

i can't write in third person about this anymore because this is terrifying.

we're being sent to men's prisons. those prairieland protestors, including two trans women, got sentenced to 556 total years in prison, essentially life sentences, for "left wing terrorism." in mens prisons we are systematically raped and murdered, including, often times, by the guards.

this shit with the TME qweerz is actively dangerous because its peeling off part of the overall trans community to be used to isolate us. it is an obvious ploy by TERFs to remove the few people who have generally been our allies so that we are more vulnerable. do you think these people don't have think tanks funding these things? they are trying to eliminate trans women from society. the president of the united states has explicitly said such.

Twice in my youth (once in high school and once in college) I was in situations where I was asking someone out and I could tell they were calculating in their heads the risks of rejecting me, and both times I said, out loud, "you can say no, I wouldn't have asked if I wasn't prepared for either answer." And then they said no. This wasn't some spark of special wisdom I had - I knew to do it because feminist conversations among my age group brought it up regularly. This isn't happening nearly enough anymore.

More recently, I was really glad when we got to "rejection sensitive dysphoria" in my IOP program and it was one of those symptoms where the therapists really emphasized how it affects others. Because it does.

I mean, yes, ralsei is "actually" feminine. some people like to skirt around this by insisting that liking ribbons and dresses and having your main hobbies be baking and sewing has nothing to do with femininity, but that's just kind of patently ridiculous.

like, of course these things are associated with the idea of "femininity". because the ideas of what are "feminine" and "masculine", and indeed the very concepts of "femininity" and "masculinity", are entirely based in gendered expectations. for whatever reason, a lot of people fail to grasp that "feminine" is not just a neutral descriptor word that means whatever you want it to. it is a word which is describing the relationship someone has to their prescribed gender role, and how well they succeed (or fail) in performing it. this is (part of) why the words "girly" directed at a boy and "unladylike" directed at a girl are terms of derision.

ralsei is, undeniably, feminine. he likes wearing ribbons and expresses an interest in wearing dresses. he is implied to be wearing makeup (or perhaps he just naturally has long beautiful eyelashes and pink eyelids). he wants to look cute and pretty, and expresses joy when he is identified as such. some of his only hobbies are baking and sewing. he's the party's healer, and is treated at least in part as a "love interest", directly drawing on RPG tropes for female characters. these are all very much things that are considered "for women", because the society we are a part of is one with a rigid gender binary. when people say ralsei is feminine they're not just arbitrarily deciding what "counts", they are understanding that he possesses many traits in line with societally prescribed femininity.

and, y'know, crucially, the game does not mock ralsei for wanting to be feminine. no one laughs at him for wanting to wear ribbons or for using healing magic. but that doesn't mean that everyone "gets" it. basically every choice ralsei makes for himself leans into that femininity, but when other people have control over his presentation or perception, they almost always choose something more masculine. you can see this with his butler and rocker outfits, neither of which he chose for himself, and with his role in the prophecy where he is identified as a prince. and I don't think that this is because everyone who does this thinks he needs to be more masculine, but I think it is notable because it makes it very clear that ralsei is not just feminine by coincidence - it is something he is choosing to be, because he wants to be. and this conflict is absolutely core to his character, because his entire arc is centered around figuring out his own identity, and allowing himself to have his own wants and desires, instead of just being what he thinks other people might want him to be.

Oh, hard to watch, is it? Hard to watch these Black teens retaliate? Hard to watch them do, to an oppressor, exactly what said oppressors have done to Black people for centuries? Hard to watch a cop on the receiving end of a beating for once? I hope that Roman Candle was heavy.

Was it equally hard to watch when, a week ago, an Ohio cop assaulted the 15 year old Kaelynn Reynolds? Threw her to the fucking ground, shoved her against his car, pressed his knee into her, and filed a charge against her spitting at him?!

No, we know what this man's doing. He wants to rally violence against these kids, who have all, no doubt, already been racially abused, profiled, and harassed by the police. Look at his language. "Horrifying." "Severe." "Mob."

I don't know what sparked this, but those teenagers have my full support, and I hope they'll be okay.

you know it's always been a fear of mine that someone would copy tvp and change up the wording to create a male version and frame it as an equal counterpart, subtracting from the purpose of tvp which is to center transfem survivors... but never in my worst nightmares did I imagine they would make their project specifically about abuse from transfems and nobody else. fucking horrific

When they uphold a ban on transfems in women's sports, they are not doing that because they care about the law, in fact the law as written would actually make it illegal, they are doing it because they seek to uphold cis patriarchy.
