People are agitated that the universe hit a hard reset. That it went against the wish to keep the original children, but I think they’re kind of overlooking the fact that there WAS no original anymore. The Book of Life was GONE, and along with it the reality that they knew. There was no rewind button. Sure, God could have created an exact copy of the universe that was lost, but that’s all it would be. A copy. The fellow angels, the demons, the humans, would all be copies of their original selves and probably wouldn’t remember everything that occurred. Everyone except Satan, God, Crowley and Aziraphale. That’s no way for either of them to live and I don’t think they wanted that for themselves or for the others. To be erased from existence only to be brought back as versions made to, really, appease the two of them and their wish should they have made it. No, they wanted things to unfold without a path. Without someone telling us what’s going to happen every second of every day. Even if that meant they had to find each other again. I think that with that final look they gave each other, they knew that they would. Naturally. The human way. In every universe, including the one we saw.
