So, imagine we are created by a god.
And there are millions of other gods that like what our god made.
So they watch us, and they begin to form communities dedicated to liking us.
A fandom is that group.
And sometimes, members of that fandom interpret us differently. I am an amalgamation of about ten or twenty of those different interpretations.
