love when i'm reading something from the ancient world that would still work today. rn i'm reading some poems from the greek anthology and there's one by lucillius about a rich man who loves his money so much that when he gets sick and finds out it would cost him one drachma more to get healed he decides to die instead. and i could see ancient roman galfridos bezos doing the exact same thing
favorite part of this is that at least in the translation the wording makes it sound like he didnt just let the illness overtake him, he made himself die on the spot
