Really glad predictive text exists. Should i bring my own parking lot
There's this notion that being able to stream professional theater shows will hurt the industry, because people won't go to the effort to support live theater anymore, and this is based on the anxieties of the film industry, but live theater isn't a film. The better analogy is sports.
Look me dead in the eye and tell me that people being able to sit at home and watch The Game -- the fandom that encourages, the ongoing investment over the years, the memories and traditions of Watching the Game with family and friends -- harms the ticket sales of real live go-to-the-stadium sports. Of course it doesn't. Of course all that *is the reason* that people care so much about sports they'll invest a small fortune on not only tickets but often travel costs to be part of it all in person. And the people who aren't doing that *can't* do that and weren't going to regardless, but their at-home participation and investment still boosts the profile of pro and NCAA sports as cultural institutions.
Maybe it's possible to fall in love with film and be immune to the romance of Going to the Cinema such that you'll just freely choose the same film in the comfort of your living room. It's not possible to fall in love with something that happens live and not want to be there to experience it. The consequences of procasts, for theater just like for sports, can only be A) more people motivated to make live theater part of their worlds, aka more money, when theaters everywhere could desperately use more money, or B) more love. Which is worth arguing for because reasons I assume I don't have to defend.

I love this little guy, but it does look like a rather unfortunate position for a whale to be in.
Hang in there, buddy.
Something I do find lovely about the first 4 Murderbot Diaries books (can’t yet speak on all of them) is:
Murderbot chronically finding new scientists/travellers to claim as “clients” (whether paid or not) like one of those sheepless herding dogs that goes around finding sheep (or anything else they can herd like a flock of sheep). Like it clearly has a protect humans instinct and a desperate need for enrichment.
Given its general lack of self awareness and unreliable narrator status, there’s no way in hell Murderbot is aware it’s doing this.
Murderbot: I just want to be left alone to watch my shows. I care nothing for these humans. I hate having clients.
Also Murderbot: *noticing unaccompanied humans that have nothing to do with it at all* Oh look, clients.
a rogue SecUnit will see a group of scientists and be like “is anyone going to protect them?” and not wait for an answer

please wear sunscreen!!! I've seen "fuck the beauty industrial complex" posts about complicated skincare regimens and am 100% with them except sometimes they mention sunscreen and no. no. absolutely not. sunscreen is a wonderful supportive friend who wants to keep you safe, and you should let her do it. throw out all your other cosmetics and skincare products if you want, but keep your sunscreen. and if you're not wearing sunscreen, start wearing it!!!! this is not about terror of aging, this is not about every tiny imperfection our fucked-up culture has made you feel insecure about, this is about protecting yourself from skin cancer. wear the damn sunscreen.
The bottom left one speaks to me on a philosophical level.
Old habits die hard...
Egg-seller appreciation:
"You know how it is with the Valerius family," said another woman who sold inferior vegetables at the market. Everyone murmured sorrowful agreement. "Hope Lord Marius hasn't snapped and murdered his mother and sister."
"Surely not. He is so honorable. And his eyes are sad."
"I could fix him," said the man who sold the best eggs.
...
"Anyone can see the Emperor is wild as weather."
"It's the harlot's fault, leading him astray—"
"I can fix him," said the egg-seller.
"What, both the Emperor and Lord Marius? You would be most assuredly and extremely murdered."
"What a way to go, though."

literally all of varric and carver’s banters together triggered basically as soon as i got this hawke into kirkwall which makes it sound like they’ve spent significantly more time together than hawke and varric have. strange vibes here guys
so i’m literally just walking in on this situation
Hello! I'm going to teach you how to get whatever cursor you want.
First, figure out what you want as a cursor. I'm going to be changing mine to a Skyrim mouse.
So first you get a picture of whatever you want, as clean as possible:
Open your favorite art program and clean it up, then save as a png:
Then go here and convert it to a .cur file. Make sure there's no gap between the corner of the arrow and the corner of the png.
Next you go to Control Panel:
Select Mouse from the list:
Then go to the Pointers tab and pick whichever mouse cursor you want to replace.
Click "Browse..." and find the .cur file you made earlier:
And voila! I now have a Skyrim cursor.
You may have to tinker with the size a bit to get the point to be accurate. If that happens, just resize your png and convert to .cur again.
Happy customization!
i think it's pretty awesome how all public transport is free actually, it's like really nice of them how you can just not pay if you don't feel like it or can't afford it
this is a post about fare evasion #fare evasion gang
one thing I never see mentioned anywhere but which was pretty much standard in left wing circles when I was a teenager is that when a random ticket check happens on the train and you actually happen to have a ticket, then you take an incredibly long time to look for it in your bag even though you know exactly where it is so other people have time to get up and change waggons or even get out. I also knew some white cis guys who would just routinely act suspicious by getting up and looking over their shoulders at the ticket control guy in the hopes that they (with actual tickets) would raise suspicion so the ticket people wouldn't just go straight to the only poc or homeless looking people on the train.
Some time ago there was a newspaper article about a ticket-fare-union-gang in the Finnish newspaper. Apparently a bunch of people in the capital area made a group where the point was that if one of them gets caught without a ticket, the entire group pitches in to pay the fee. On the whole, this means that each person pays maybe 1e to the bag, once a month. Because people getting caught is so rare and there are enough people in the group.
Anyway, the reporter interviewed the police about it, and they had to admit that it was technically legal *shrug emoji*.
watching the pb&t playthrough of turnabout goodbyes and they said that von karma ending up in front of the elevator in dl-6 was like fate… i totally agree. von karma just had the biggest shock of his career where he potentially could have had a moment to think about his life and wonder if it was truly worth it to continue faking evidence and being corrupt. he’s lost his composure for the first time in a very very long time.
and then here comes an accident, an elevator like the hand of god delivering him the man who caused him pain, a bystander, a child, and a gun. he gets shot. and the pain exposes his knee-jerk reaction, which was always, always to take everything he could. instead of saving lives, calling an ambulance, he took one life, ruined another, and started the longest revenge game ever.
so yeah, maybe the circumstances of dl-6 were fate, giving manfred von karma a chance to turn his life around on the worst day of his life so far, and he laughed in the face of it and chose to go even farther instead.
