transfeminism requires liberation for ALL. attempting all conversations in good faith, i try to give you as much respect as you give me. not a discourse blog, more of a venting blog + space to boost voices i think deserve to be heard. blog title is for the pun.
when a trans man dies because his murderer wanted him to be a woman and his masculinity defied that, regardless of how much misogyny motivated his murder, that man still died because he was a man. because he refused to call himself woman when he was told that was his place.
many men would not be dead if we could simply hold our tongue and our breath and our life closed by continuing to be woman. but many men can’t. trying to do that kills us slowly. when we shed off that lie we can instead, at least, die violently, quickly, brutally, and then have our murder counted in femicide statistics without anyone recognizing that a man died because he dared to be a man
systemic or nonsystemic, the personal prejudices people have against trans masculinity and female masculinity is ultimately for their masculinity and not for their “failure to perform femininity”. we can perform femininity as much as we want and transphobes will still kill us because we dared grasp for a label they do not want us to have.

Gotta tell you guys something wild in the Chinese fan sphere
So some fanartist drew a “sexy” (read: booby) version of a (cartoon) character who is traditionally very non-sexualised. Fans of the character got mad about it because it’s kind of groundbreaking how that character is written and portrayed and this art totally ignores the entire point of the character. They demanded the art be deleted. In response to that other people said, well what the fanartist did may be distateful but they have every right to draw what they’re into. The two sides fight for days and each starts a harassment campaign and even report their “opponents’” accounts.
So far so typical. But things eventually come to a head and they decide that this will be settled by votes - not through a poll. Through donations to a children’s education charity via each side’s portal. Whoever can get the highest amount of donation wins.
And that is how this charity received over 1 million in donations in three days lol. Oh btw the “freedom of expression” side won by a landslide (960k to 40k)
No I don't think the demonization of testosterone HRT is about transfems or transmisogyny actually. I think the demonization of testosterone HRT is anti-transmasculine and about transmascs and men.
ppl really love to assert that there there is a correct and an incorrect way to oppress people, and if somebody sid it wrong it doesnt count
People seem to think bigotry follows logic and get mad if it gets pointed out that bigots often really don't care about logic as long as they think they have the right target.

Folks, if you don't know who Emi Koyama was, you should. Her website (eminism.org, which is a delightful pun) has a ton of her work entirely for free.
You can read the Transfeminist Manifesto in particular here. Emi considered it a historical document and she wrote a very good self-critique in 2008 (included in the document) on the subject of the Manifesto, white feminism, and the lack of inclusion of trans and genderqueer people who aren't trans women. I highly encourage everyone who wants to involve themselves in transfeminism to read her work, not because it is perfect, but because I do think Emi Koyama's Manifesto represents the best intentions for transfeminism: the desire to challenge cissexism, to take activism seriously and compassionately, and a commitment to being open and honest about where we fall short and how we can do better.
I really appreciate this quote from her, which I hadn't seen before, on the subject of feminism needing to "fit in" trans people:
Cis feminists do not own feminism. We don't need to "fit trans people into feminist theory"; we simply need to challenge cissexism in feminist movements and theories. Trans people do not need to be explained by feminist theory; we need to start from the fact that trans people exist and matter.
And it would be a crime to not mention how hard she fought specifically for women of color, to challenge racism and imperialism (white/western and non-white/non-western) in feminist spaces and in general, as well as her intersex activism, and far more. She had such a drive to contribute to, engage with, and push for more and better feminist discourse.
You will be remembered fondly, Emi Koyama. Thank you for all your work and for all your life.
"AMAB" i mean so what. i was jaundiced at birth too but nobody seems to want to assign social significance to that. they should though. they should assert that i will always have a jaundiced soul no matter how much urine i process. and mock me for my weak faggot kidneys #myweakfaggotkidneys
The Trump administration is cynically exploiting calls for stricter AI regulation to pass broad censorship measures at the federal level.
So, in terrible news, Trump's trying to pull some strings to pass this massive internet censorship bill, featuring all the kinds of internet censorship we're terrified of, including mandatory ID for accessing basically any website, specifically to crush state regulation of AI, because apparently this man will always see the moral bottom of the barrel and start digging.
So, if you live in the US and hate censorship and AI you know what to do, contact your congresspeople and tell them do not fucking dare let this through or so help us god...
hey this is like, really important. the internet is an amazing mass communication device that gives us the chance to have both cultural exchange and personal friendships with people who live very different lives. the presidency is rotten so only the senate + congress can save us now, so its important to start putting pressure on them.
5calls was supposed to make the calling process easier but you don't actually have to only call representatives from your own state, and its actually really important that you don't stick to your own state. just google a list of the members of congress & senate, google their contact info, and call as many of them as you have time and energy for.
this seems like it won't work but i promise it will, if you do it in a very careful way. more tips below the cut:
the thing about contacting yr reps is that you can lie to them! our current government is not trustworthy so you don't have to be either. here are some suggested scripts for lying to various politicians based on what state they are in. in every case, the key is to make up a child who needs the internet for some socioeconomic reason:
tell them that you are a concerned parent who is worried about your child's ability to get a job in the future if they are not allowed to access the internet
tell them a sob story about how your child is bullied at school but loves to come home to talk to his friends in singapore and australia and canada, and you'd be very sad if he lost those friendships
put on an old person voice and tell them a story about how much you enjoy sitting with your grandkids while they show you their favorite k-dramas on the ipad
literally just pretend to be older than you actually are and tell them the good social-and-business-minded things you use the internet for. make up a fairy tale about a pretend child that represents yourself and explain it in broad strokes, as if you are talking to someone who has never heard of social media before. teach people with business-boy brain worms that the internet is actually pretty good for socializing with your kids, and International Business will suffer if it is censored.
talk more slowly than you think you have to. use as few words as possible. treat it like a prank if you like but don't say anything that'll make yourself laugh or break character. its not enough to call your reps anymore, you have to be strategic about it. if you can frame Your Problems as something that are also a problem for people those politicians feel sorry for (starting with themselves).
it helps if you can kind of cosplay your voice. if you know people from that specific state have an accent then put on that specific accent, if you can. you can look up "[insert state here] accent" on youtube and find examples, just listen to lots of examples and you'll have an impression down in no time. this linguist guy did a good breakdown of the important differences between accents, but if you just listen to a lot of examples you'll get it down.
powerful people hate pranks because they think of pranks as a form of social engineering, that's why most useful USamerican activism in the modern day looks exactly like pranking. take your own political ideas seriously enough to deliver them in a way that might actually be heard by the powers that be & you can move mountains, whether calling or protesting or etc. the emperor has no clothes, and you are allowed to laugh, but make it count.
fear not + i believe in you + good luck + you got the power!!

I just stumbled upon an Instagram reel that said something like "I'm probably trans but I'm too much of a misandrist to accept it" with thousands of likes (including a couple of irl friends of mine who know that I'm a trans man...) but sure the queer community doesn't have a problem with men and masculinity and the radfem rhetoric that's been allowed to prosper in queer and feminist spaces these past years is not harmful to trans men at all (/s)
Apparently there's drama in the tiktok feminist community bc someone (correctly) argued that being a woman doesn't make you an authority on feminism. People did not like this.
Some women are in fact misogynistic anti-feminists or completely uninformed and a feminist man who has read a single bell hooks book would be a better authority on feminism than them 👍
lord knows I'm sick of people using "kink" as some magic shield against engaging with their own ideas and actions but it's wild to single out BDSM practicioners as people who "keep murdering women" and to do so by citing an eleven year old incident when I can name like, a half a dozen women murdered in nice Christian relations in the last few years. Sorry this is just another example of why it's hard to take radfems seriously
my brothers are brutalized and murdered in the dark, and you parade their broken corpses as martyred women, victimized by the patriarchy. you tell me we are not victims, we are not targets, as if you are not standing on our graves. and as you carve the wrong name into his tombstone, you turn and tell me erasure is a privilege.
it's actually fucking crazy that people are still parroting the idea that you need to tell people that you're trans before dating kissing or yes even having sex with them. so called allies are still talking about transness like it's this inherently dirty and corruptable aspect of someone, something that's necessary to clarify before intimacy in order for it to be consensual; as if being trans is a rot that can spread and stain someone, as if demanding your partner reveal private information about themselves without you asking is somehow a legitimate personal concern akin to knowing if your partner has an sti.
if a person went on a date with a trans person, kissed them, had sex with them (yes, people can have sex with trans people without knowing that they're trans, how can you possibly belive in the legitimacy of transition if you don't think this is true?) and enjoyed themselves the entire time, they consented. and if they wouldn't have had sex if they knew, sorry, that's their problem. it's ridiculous to expect people to clarify every microscopic aspect of their identity and history on the off chance that the person they're dating has an irrational preference against one of them. and everyone knows this is ridiculous, which is why this logic is only used as a cudgel against trans people. fix yourselves

Legit think there's an extremely strong resistance to actually analyzing how the masculine end of gender functions because that would require dismantling gender antagonism as a philosophy. Which is really frustrating because that only reinforces gender as an institution and prevents us from making meaningful progress in dismantling these systems that fuck everything up for everyone. But most Americans can't pass up an opportunity to feel righteously angry about something, so a lot of people just don't wanna move past that.
The most important lesson to learn from everything within the world of men right now is that masculinity itself is a pyramid scheme. Everybody gets these treasures dangled in front of their face and is told the way to get them is to become a heartless drone. To not only become blind to your own suffering, but to make others suffer, because suffering is the exchange of power. If you suffer enough you will win. Trust me bro. I'm helping you by making you suffer. One day it will be your turn. Promise.
