Not to be a drooling socialist cuck, but if a full day's labour can't purchase three square meals, 24 hour's worth of rent and utilities, a fraction of a month's clothing budget, and a reasonable portion to be saved for when you can no longer comfortably work, what the fuck are we doing shit for
Not all construction work is equally enjoyable. For example, enlarging a drilled hole is boring, but fastening pieces of metal together is riveting.
this joke would get the exact same reaction in 1870 that it gets in 2021 and I love that about it
my brother started calling our cat "doobie brother" which he then lengthened to "dubious brother" and has since morphed into "brother dubious" like he's some sort of fucked up little monk
brother dubious
"My liege, I'm afraid I have reason to believe your concubine plots against you. Worry not, your eminence, you can still trust me, of course..."

we don't give percy enough credit tbh honestly if i was 12 and my mom died and my best friend was a goat and my father was a sea god and i was expected to go around the country looking for my uncle's thunderbolt with a girl that i was pretty sure hated my guts while literally everyone in my life was hiding things from me and never giving me any information so i had to peice everything together and still being called dumb i would go on a homicidal killing spree. i think percy managed to beat up ares because of the unhealthy amount of rage and agitation that was building up inside of him. honestly i don't blame him at ALL pop off king
Iâm not crying, I got Clone Wars in my eyes.
I was born in the late nineteen hundreds
only nineteen hundreds kids will remember these
normal brain: I'm a '90s kid
big brain: I was born in the late nineteen hundreds
giant brain: I arose from the final years of the 20th century
galaxy brain: I was brought into this world amongst the dying breaths of the second millennium AD, and grew amidst the warmth of its ashes
born some decades before the Calamity
me: i wish i could turn off certain mobs. iâd love to play more survival mode but the spiders really upset me :(
my dad, the most stoic person in existence, LEAPING out of his chair with great concern: I AM NOW OBSESSED WITH THIS PROBLEM. I WILL PROCEED TO SPEND THE NEXT MONTH SCOURING THE INTERNET FOR NICHE MODS OR CONSOLE COMMANDS IN HOPES I CAN BRING YOU AND THE ENTIRE MINECRAFT PLAYERBASE PEACE.
my dad, a week later, more distraught than iâve ever seen: brittany itâs awful. iâve been googling around for solutions to your spider problem and lots of little kids have asked for help on the same issue and people online were Mean to them. i cannot type fast enough to stop all of them. this is a crisis right now
if you play java edition i can make a datapack that kills all spiders when they spawn so you donât get a chance to see them
hi!! i do play java edition, and any help would be amazing!! my current method involves a small redstone machine in the spawn area and command blocks, but iâve not looked into datapacks since getting back into playing. they seem like theyâd be more intuitive though, so iâd love some help!! :0
itâs done :]
https://www.planetminecraft.com/data-pack/no-spiders-5590849/
EEEEEEE thank you so much!!!!!! i canât wait to try it out!!!! :D
For arachnaphobes this is a game changer, thank you OP
This is great news for all the gamers who get the jeebies from spiders but we can not ignore the stoic Super Dad who is on the forums beating back Minecraft bullies with a stick defending the youth.
You are my hero, Brittanyâs Stoic Dad

Azula always lies.Â
saw this post by @heavenly-dusk and kinda went insane thinking abt it so i drew it, i hope you donât mind!Â
Legacy. What is a legacy? Itâs planting seeds in a garden you never get to seeâŚ
cellars. obviously.
Can't. The cellar is full of Amontillado.
Where? I don't see it
Just down here. Come this way and I'll show you.
i used to work in cosmetics. we would get a lot of people, mostly older women, who would come in clearly just looking to talk to someone. they had a lot on their mind, a lot of pain in lifeâregardless of socioeconomic status or how they presented themselves, and, for an hour, they could come in and talk to the pretty, young girls about anything.
we could talk about make up and skin care and and about how their cancer treatments were going and how hard itâs been since their spouse passed and âdo you think my granddaughter would like this blush? sheâs visiting soon and i want to get her something. oh let me show you her picture! sheâs getting so grown up!â and in return, for an hour, we would get to sit with someone who wasnât yelling at us because they didnât have a receipt and wanted to return a product they had used completely. they would ask us about our families and offer condolences for the aches in our lives too. and, for an hour, two strangers would be connected.
âwhy should i even answer a service worker when they ask how iâm doing? i know they donât mean it. i donât mean it when i say , âiâm fine.â itâs better that i just donât answer and ignore them.â every day one person told me about their aches was better than days where 100 people treated me like a kiosk, unworthy of even the most basic of social niceties. it reminded us both that we arenât alone in life. the connections made it worth it.
This is my first coding assignment for my software engineering class that started today. Itâs going to be a really good semester.
UPDATE: I got my grade back and
â100âł
Since this post has gotten some attention, I feel like itâs worth mentioning that this was just the first half of the assignment.
The second half, which we werenât made aware of until the day we were meant to turn this one in, was to trade USB drives with the person sitting next to us and MODIFY their âunreadableâ code without getting any help from them.
This was to teach us two things:
1) In this field, youâll spend more time working with code written by other people than you will writing original code from a blank slate. The people who wrote the original code will probably not be around to help you. Learning to read code is IMPORTANT, even if it seems unreadable.
2) There is a strong brotherhood/sisterhood among programmers and software engineers. Respect that bond when youâre writing code and documentation. In my professorâs words:Â âWhen you write code, pretend that the person who will have to maintain it after youâre gone is a homicidal maniac who knows where you live.â
This class and professor are incredible.

>First, weâve discovered that about a quarter of all the internet connection in or out of the house were ad related. In a few hours, thatâs about 10,000 out of 40,000 processed.
>We also discovered that every link on Twitter was blocked. This was solved by whitelisting the https://t.co domain.
>Once out browsing the Web, everything is loading pretty much instantly. It turns out most of that Page Loading malarkey weâve been accustomed to is related to sites running auctions to sell Ad space to show you before the page loads. All gone now.
>We then found that the Samsung TV (which I really like) is very fond of yapping all about itself to Samsung HQ. All stopped now. No sign of any breakages in its function, so Iâm happy enough with that.
>The primary source of distress came from the habitual Lemmings player in the house, who found they could no longer watch ads to build up their in-app gold. A workaround is being considered for this.
>The next ambition is to advance the Ad blocking so that it seamlessly removed YouTube Ads. This is the subject of ongoing research, and tinkering continues. All in all, a very successful experiment.
>Certainly this exceeds my equivalent childhood project of disassembling and assembling our rotary dial telephone. A project whose only utility was finding out how to make the phone ring when nobody was calling.
>Update: All4 on the telly appears not to have any ads any more. Goodbye Arnold Clarke!
>Lemmings problem now solved.
>Can confirm, after small tests, that RTĂ Player ads are now gone and the player on the phone is now just delivering swift, ad free streams at first click.
>Some queries along the lines of âAre you not stealing the internet?â Firstly, this is my network, so I may set it up as I please (or, you know, my son can do it and I can give him a stupid thumbs up in response). But there is a wider question, based on the ads=internet model.
>Iâm afraid I passed the You Wouldnât Download A Car point back when I first installed ad-blocking plug-ins on a browser. But consider my chatty TV. Individual consumer choice is not the method of addressing pervasive commercial surveillance.
>Should I feel morally obliged not to mute the TV when the ads come on? No, this is a standing tension- a clash of interests. But I think my interest in my family not being under intrusive or covert surveillance at home is superior to the ad companyâs wish to profile them.
>Aside: 24 hours of Pi Hole stats suggests that Samsung TVs are very chatty. 14,170 chats a day.
>YouTube blocking seems difficult, as the ads usually come from the same domain as the videos. Havenât tried it, but all of the content can also be delivered from a no-cookies version of the YouTube domain, which doesnât have the ads. I have asked my son to poke at that idea.

Yeppers. :)
reblogging for study later AND to spread the info.
Seriously, get and run PiHole if you can. It changes your internet experience so much for the better. I get shocked when I visit a website when I'm someone else's network, by just how many ads the internet is flooded with now. Take back control.
