One installer. Every essential fix, mod, and tool for The Sims 2, set up for you in a few clicks.
I got tired of hunting down the same "must-have" fixes every time I reinstalled The Sims 2 (to the point where it has kept me from playing), so I made a tool that does it for you! π₯³ You choose the fixes, mods, and tools you want, click through, and it installs them all β with automatic backups and a built-in undo, so nothing is permanent and nothing gets lost.
It works with both the 2025 Legacy Collection (Steam and EA App) and the older Ultimate Collection.
β οΈ One heads-up: I only own Legacy (on Steam) and the Ultimate Collection, so I haven't been able to test the EA App or Epic versions of the Legacy Collection myself. They should work, but if you run into any issues on those, please let me know and I'll push out a fix!
Most importantly, none of this content is mine. Every fix, mod, and tool belongs to the creators who made them β I only automate installing them. Full credits and links are in the guide that comes with it. Please go support these people π
β¬οΈ Download: SFS | GitHub

More details under the cut π
What is it?
The Sims 2 Essentials Setup Tool is a single Windows installer (.exe file). Instead of downloading, unzipping, and hand-placing dozens of separate fixes, you run one program, choose what you want from a checklist, and it puts everything in the right place for you.
There are three quick presets so you don't have to think too hard:
Recommended β the sensible default set.
Complete β everything.
Custom β start from a blank slate and pick only what you want.
What's included
Everything here is curated to work together and this isn't a random pile of downloads. I checked every package against the others for conflicts (comparing the actual game resources each one touches), dropped or swapped anything that clashed, and set the load order in the few cases where two mods needed to coexist. So you can tick things freely without worrying that two fixes will quietly fight each other.
Over 140 hand-picked fixes and mods, grouped into:
Anti-corruption & core β the safety-critical stuff that keeps your neighborhoods healthy.
Bug fixes β dozens of fixes for Maxis bugs, from memory issues to gameplay glitches.
Helpful gameplay mods β quality-of-life tweaks that just make the game nicer to play.
Essential tools & systems:
CEP (Color Enable Package) β downloaded straight from MTS at install, see the note below
The Scriptorium
Radiance Lighting System 2.5
GunMod's Camera Mod 3.1
Rugs off-grid
TS2 Extender 0.8.1 (fixes only, optional extras off by default)
Objects.package corruption protection
Missing content restore (you supply your own Ultimate Collection or disc files β EA content is NOT bundled):
Restore IKEA Home Stuff (works on both Steam and EA/Epic β it sets up whichever your game needs)
Restore Missing Music
Missing Holiday Items
Neighborhood setup: clean/empty stealth 'hoods, or fully disable them, plus the MATY no-townie-regen mods.
Startup cheats: 45Β° object rotation and quarter-tile placement.
Third-party tools: SimPE, Mootilda's HoodChecker / LotAdjuster / Sims2Pack Clean Installer, and Body Shop for the Legacy Collection.
Backups & undo
This is the part I care about most: before the tool changes or replaces any file, it backs up your original first (to C:\ProgramData\The Sims 2 Essentials Setup Tool\backups). To undo anything, just run the tool again and choose Undo β you get a checklist and can roll back everything or only certain pieces. It does not add itself to "Add or remove programs"; it stays fully self-contained.
Requirements
Windows (I tested and created this on Windows 11)
The Sims 2 Legacy Collection (2025) or Ultimate Collection
For the "Missing" content (IKEA / Music / Holiday), your own UC or disc files
How to use it
First, a friendly nudge: back up your Sims 2 "Documents" folder. The tool shouldn't touch your saves, neighborhoods, or downloads β and it automatically backs up anything it does change β but it's always better safe than sorry. Just copy your Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2β¦ folder somewhere safe before you start. (Besidesβ¦ when was the last time you backed up your saves? π)
Download the .exe. It's unsigned (normal for community tools), so if Windows SmartScreen pops up, click More info β Run anyway.
Right-click the .exe and choose "Run as administrator" β it needs admin rights because it writes into your game folder.
Pick your edition, confirm your Documents folder, tick what you want, and click through.
That's it. To undo later, run it again and choose Undo.
A note on CEP
CEP isn't bundled in the installer β Numenor asks that it only be hosted on Mod The Sims. So if you tick it, the tool downloads it directly from MTS at install time. None of Numenor's files are redistributed here. That does mean CEP is the one thing you can't install while offline β but everything else in the tool works completely fine with no internet connection.
Credits & terms
Genuinely, all of the credit goes to the creators β Numenor, LazyDuchess, GunMod & the Radiance team, HugeLunatic, Mootilda, cyjon, Pescado & MATY, TwoJeffs, Nopke, simler90, LordDarcy, MidgeTheTree, hiloyt, CroconawSims, and so many more. The full list with links is in the included guide.
While I've reviewed everyone's terms of use in detail to make sure I wasn't breaking any rules, I'm only human and I could have missed (or misinterpreted) something. If one of your mods or tools is included in this installer and you'd like me to remove it, please shoot me a message and I'm happy to do so.
The tool itself is free and open-source β you're more than welcome to review every file and exactly what it does on GitHub. It's not affiliated with EA or with any of the creators above.
Missing something? Suggestions welcome
Think I've left out a crucial bug fix or a genuinely helpful mod? Send it my way. If the creator's terms of use allow it, I'm happy to look into adding it.
A quick heads-up on my philosophy, though: I originally built this for myself, and I like my game as close to vanilla as possible. So mods that change gameplay in a big way, or add features that were never in the base game to begin with, generally aren't ones I'll bundle. This isn't meant to be an "everything" list, but I'm always glad to consider suggestions, so don't be shy about sharing what you'd love to see!
If you run into anything weird, drop me an ask! π

Outdoor Gym set | Fitness trail and exercise bike
Popping in for another long-due upload!
This is a mini set of outdoor gym equipment, including a fitness trail cloned from the obstacle course career reward, and an exercise bike. Both use the AL monkey bar textures, and I made 4 custom recolors.

(personal rambling under the cut)
I'm still trying to keep up with the community and lurking around here but it's been more difficult to play and make progress on my projects lately, juggling between work, my computer showing signs of age, and personal life in general being pretty rough lately... I'm planning to switch to Linux on my laptop in hopes of (among other reasons) prolonging its life by a few more years but I'm stuck on installation problems. And in the longer run I need to prepare to buy a new computer anyway, pretty daunting task tbh.
Anyway, I have other stuff in the works that I hope to share before the end of the year at least!
This is an idea I've had for long, but what brought me to eventually execute it is this post on Reddit I saw a bit ago:
I suggest taking a read, but in short, it's about a draft of Veronaville that eventually was scrapped and rectified before release. I'm specifying "draft", as the creator makes it sound like this is the "intended Veronaville" we didn't get. It's one of the many ideas they eventually ditched, but I think it would really be fun to play as a "what if" Veronaville. Data (some of which I even found myself) is so old it dates back to when Veronaville was called "N005" ("Europa") and the fifth and last neighborhood to release after some other scrapped ones. With the information provided in this post, I would like to aim to recreate a visualization of what it used to be like. This includes:
The return of some unseen/dead characters
Return of deleted characters (where possible)
Rectification of existing characters (goes from the whole family to the single character and what they do)
Modifications to the story
Modifications to the structure of houses (unsure)
Modifications to the map (unsure)
Scripted notifications (I'll see if I can also make scripted events)
Restoration of old mechanics (such as baby faces)
Rectification of maxis errors
More? Maybe!
How can YOU help?
I'd absolutely love if you could help me develop this project, as there is a lot to do and help can speed things up. First and foremost, I need as much material as I can get. If you have beta pictures, promotional material, leftovers of data, or Knowledge on any of this matter (even if it's little)β do not hesitate to contact me!! Either write a comment on this post, contact me in private, or, if you're really shy, you can send an anonymous ask. To have this reach more people, please reblog, tell a friend, or share this via any means you want and on whichever platform. This gives a higher the chance to eventually get in touch with someone that might have vital information. Anyone that contributes will be credited (or can opt to not be credited). If anyone knows how to operate SimPE, share what you know and maybe I could even pass the project around so multiple people work on it.
Now, I did try to ask for the poster to be more specific with their provided information, but I've been kinda ignored...
In an advanced state, we could even start rolling out translations. I am only fluent in English and Italian, therefore, to not make half-assed translations, I'd appreciate if someone else could translate it in other languages.
Stay tuned! Everything will be posted under the "Sims 2: Project Europa" hastag.
Crunchy skymap-generic-night-envcube replaced with plain color, four options to choose from. Previews under the cut.
*This is for The Sims 2
Envcube consists of six textures = six sides of the cube, 3D panoramic view of the environment (hence the name).
SimPe allows you to view / edit each of those 6 resources ("Blocks" drop-down list) - but please note this feature is a bit buggy. If you start getting errors, or if you're unable to switch between the 'blocks', restart the program.
Night sky crunchiness is not very noticeable, but when you apply some filters, either in ReShade or when editing screenshots, it can bring out the crunch (like in Vanilla preview pic below - it's a bit sharpened).
Darker shades make some skylines stick out a bit too much (as seen above).

Today I decided to post this recolor I made a little while ago for personal use. I was checking the activity on my Tumblr when a profile liked the old cabinet version of this same mesh. Thatβs when I remembered I had this new one and hadn't posted it yet. I tried to make the wood look like the The Sims 4 style, and I think it turned out really well.
The add-ons for this cabinet make the kitchen even more perfectβas alwaysβand Iβm leaving the links below so you can get the complete collection.
Announcing OpenSO alpha testing π§ͺ Signups are open now!
OpenSO is a revival of FreeSO, a fan-hosted recreation of The Sims Online, upgraded with a modern foundation:
Runs on .NET 10 LTS with the latest MonoGame. GitHub Actions automatically builds client, server, and updated shaders for all platforms.
A C# launcher replacing the old Electron one, with an integrated patcher and self-updater.
Replaced the Mina.NET dependency with a rewritten networking and buffer stack supporting TLS end-to-end encryption.
Updated rendering pipeline: dynamic frame rates >60FPS, resolution scaling, new AA options, and optional post-processing effects for 3D mode.
New features: rebuilt Create-A-Sim with zoom & rotation plus larger icons; edit your Sim's gender, appearance, and skintone at any time from the Select-A-Sim menu; a Social Bunny NPC who shows up to help your Social need when your Sim is alone. π°
Fixed long-standing nitpicks, like the window scaling/mouse glitch.
Always free and open source, with no pay-to-win or donation perks.
OpenSO is early in development, so things may break or be rough around the edges. Expect frequent updates.
Player feedback will be crucial in shaping the game's direction. Once the foundation is tested under a real player load, the beta release can shift focus to new content & gameplay changes while staying faithful to the original game β as well as events, documentation, tools, and quality-of-life features.
The alpha provides starting funds of $100k to begin building. The testing world, Genesis, will be wiped for the public beta.
Signups are open now and public for anyone who wants to help playtest, report bugs, or contribute ideas and changes.

These days I spent lots of time fixing lot skirt shader - and it turned into something more. I was to rewrite many game shaders to get consistent look of terrain and snow, and now, it's ready to be published!
Attempted to fix inconsistent lighting, implemented transparent lot skirt roads - so that they match the rest of lot skirt terrain, more and more!
Improvements
Consistent lighting - lot skirt, lot terrain and roads now match.
All lighting states compatible - dusk, dawn, seasonal changes work well.
Every lighting mod compatible - works even with maxis lighting.
New snow shaders (lot skirt, lot terrain and roofs) - fixed ugly shading, proper reaction to every lighting state.
Fixed lot imposters - now their terrain is rendered as well as possible.
Transparent lot skirt roads - now it's possible to use road textures with transparent cuts so that it matches lot skirt terrain.
Now reflective pond water doesn't require pools - its reflections work by reflective plane placed in lot corner.
Neighborhood roads have light snow pass.
Included
Lot skirt shaders
Lot imposter shaders
Lot terrain shaders
Lot lighting fixes (requires RPC)
Roof shaders
Bright CAS fix
Extended Standard and SimStandard shaders
Neighborhood road shader
Pond Water Overhaul
NOT Included BUT Compatible
Better Nightlife
Sea Water Overhaul
Accurate Neighborhood Lighting
Soft Shadows
WIP
Multi-road neighborhoods (I will add it later, sorry!)
Installation
Put the contents into your downloads folder (contains default replacement of maxis roads making them transparent, you may delete these files if you use road default replacements). Remember, my shaders must be loaded last to prevent conflicts!

So many new labs (and some subtly tweaked old coats)!
IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE DOWNLOADING
These custom breeds were made with the VANILLA GAME'S fur and eye colors in mind. If you are using default replacements, some breeds will look drastically different than intended and some colors may be strange or inaccurate.
This is a very large overhaul (158 breed files plus 1 collection file) so your game could lag when you open CAS.
I highly recommend deleting your Groups and Accessory cache files before extracting the overhaul, otherwise the collection may be missing some breeds or appear completely empty.
DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS
Pet Breed Files: Extract directly into your PetBreeds folder.
Collection File: Put this in your Collections folder.
Download Links: SFS (MTS link coming soon)
You can safely pick and choose which breeds/variants you want in your game. Please let me know ASAP if something breaks or doesn't look right so I can work on fixing it.

When I saw @shastakiss' edits to lmhjws' wall coat/hat, I finally got the motivation to do some edits I've been meaning to do for ages. What you get:
A default by me for the "wall coat hanger surfer". I replaced three of the clothes and all four board textures, using @pforestsims' plain wood recolors as a base (my default is using new textures so you can grab all of pf's recs without ending up with duplicates!). I made two recolors for the clothes as well (sorry for the lazy milkshape preview):
You can choose between separate and merged recs as usual.
I edited pf's "PF_AnthonyRocHanger[TSS]_clothes_board_RC02_woodWornWhite.package" file, the texture was a bit mushy (understandable, when you go from any color -> white). Not much of a difference, but included nevertheless. I edited the filename slightly.
yedda_2000's Anthony Roc Skate Rack edited. I resized the textures (1024x1024 -> 512x512) and edited the colors, I dislike neon colors so my textures are more muted. This board is repo'd to the Maxis one, I just thought I'd show it like this.
@episims' separated hanging sneakers are now repo'd to yedda_2000's Anthony Roc Skate Rack. Can be used with my edited version or yedda's original. I somehow completely missed that episims had also edited lmhjws' wall coat. If you're unsure of which to grab, Epi's and Shasta's are pretty much the same, but Shasta's version has shadows! And also includes remakes of lmjhws' original recs.
I recommend this mod to make the rack functional.
I have not made new files so you need to choose between my edits or their original ones. If you have any default for the wall coat hanger surfer you have to delete it before using my file. Teen Style Stuff Pack and CEP are required. Shasta's edits are not included, grab them here! Anything unclear? Wonky? Let me know<3

Here are a couple mods to do with university and degrees and jobs! This is basically an overhaul of the Maxis majors system and a separate file for major-to-career associations so they make more sense with the new majors. (not that they make much sense in the vanilla game anyway)
I have a Google Doc readme with a comprehensive breakdown of all the majors, the class titles, the skills they use, and so on, as well as some information about making default and custom careers compatible, but here is a quick overview:
MajorsOverhaul
This part is the majors. I didn't touch Undeclared, but the other eleven Maxis majors have all undergone some changes - some of them retained their name and description, and others emphatically did not. Which skills are needed, and how many points in each, is not the same in most cases. I did specifically plan for these go to with Cyjon's Semester Changes, but the odd-numbered semesters have class titles and skill points connected to them, so this should still work without Semester Changes if you don't mind a more boring university experience.
Each major requires 15-16 skill points for the maximum grade. Four majors have new icons to go with them! The list of majors and the skills they use is now thus:
Visual and Performing Arts - Mechanical, Charisma, Body, Creativity
CareersForMajorsOverhaul
This is what changes the careers to match up with the new majors in a way that makes sense to me. There are two variants: the one appended with NoDegreeReqs removes degree restrictions from all careers, while the other now requires a Sim to have a degree in order to enter the Architecture, Education, Law, Medicine, Natural Science, and Science career tracks. Choose one!
After almost a week of smashing my head against a keyboard, I present to you my very first CC everβ¦
Moving alien antennas. They swing. They dangle. They bounce.
Version 1 - antennas move subtly. Less likely to clip. Compatible with a wider range of haircuts, but not all. Available for all ages and genders.
Version 2 - antennas are more responsive to movement and look like they have a life of their own, but they clip a lot and have a very limited range of compatible haircuts. Theoretically available for all genders, but completely broken on toddlers.
RECOLOR - these don't move, just a simple recolor of the original mesh (Namekian Style Skins and Antennas for Everybody, by Diekatze) to match the alien skin tone in game. Available for all ages and genders, and compatible with all haircuts. Mesh included on my file.
DISCLAIMER
The antennas are broken on a lot of haircuts (they clip, stretch or point in strange directions), and I still don't know exactly why.
Version 1 seems to work with some animated haircuts and all static haircuts (as far as I know).
Version 2 doesn't work with most haircuts and is completely broken on toddlers. See example below:
I'm trying to fix it, but it requires a degree of technical knowledge that I do not possess (frustratingly so). If anyone knows how, I'd be very happy to learn!

Hi! I wanted to share a cause that really matters to me. The Plumb Bob Keep community is working hard to stay online through 2026, but they still need help covering their hosting and domain bills. Even a small share or donation can make a difference in keeping this beloved site aliveβplease consider supporting or sharing if you can! π https://gofund.me/02015ba3d
Let's keep the beloved Plumb Bob Keep going! I know this is way past our nor⦠Stanislav Syursin needs your support for Help Keep Plumb Bob K
We've all been there. Our sim is out having a lovely time with some friends, perhaps family, or a whole frat worth of loose acquaintances. They are hungry, they want to eat.
And somehow by the end your Sim has to foot the bill for the whole affair. Hardly seems fair, does it? I mean how often do you go around paying for everyone when you eat out? Nah. I am tired of my poor newcomers in town trying to make friends only to end up with a 8 people restaurant bill to cover on their meager salary. Clearly it is not my fault for making food more expensive resulting in 800+ bills (π) but the lack of manners in sim-restaurants not providing a means to split the cost π€ No more!
With this mod, the restaurant podium (*) will now give you the option of splitting the bill. Can be used on dates as well as outings, though it only shows up if there are non-household members taking part in the meal. If there are any such, the podium will give you the option to only pay a fair share of the total bill, corresponding to the % your sims make up out of the total. In the example above, only one sim out of 4 was part of the household, so the sim is given the option to pay 25% of the bill. If two sims had been household members, it would have been 50%, and so on. (**)
(*) Will not apply to custom podiums without a tweak, more info under the cut.
(**) Only active household pays, the remainder of the bill is negated entirely. If you play a strictly regulated economy, your restaurant will earn less when you use this option. To track exactly what you ate, or force payment from multiple source is both overly complicated and more conflict-prone, and I do not personally think it is worth the effort here. If you run OFB restaurants, just don't use the option in those.
Download from SFS
Conflicts: None that I know of. Does not conflict with Lamare's reservable tables π Edits TTABs of the maxis podiums, action strings and pay bill action/guardian interactions in the semi-global, and adds one custom bhav to the semi-global.
Credits: @episims who when I was frustrated about this in my game pointed out it probably wouldn't be too hard to fix, and what do you know it wasn't. Thank you for being my second opinion and pointing out I can do more than I myself think I can :P Love ya buddy π₯° @grilledcheese-aspiration who was kind enough to do some tests for me, much appreciated! @kashmiresims who kindly agreed to take previews for me since my game is in Swedish and the text would not have made a lot of sense to most of you :3 Her sims are lucky they don't get my kind of bills! π
Editing custom podiums
Due to how Maxis set up the menus of podiums, it was necessary to tweak the TTAB to alter which interaction is used which means custom podiums are not impacted. It is however a super easy fix that anyone can do, so if you have a custom podium you would like to fix this is how you do it. Locate your package and follow the steps.
I think most everyone with a custom podium are likely to be using Sunni's partly invisible version, and since I know some people do not like touching SimPE however easy it seems to me, I figured I'd include an edited version.
It comes with a bonus fix that shifts the podium ever so slightly forward, to prevent the routing stomping protests the host gives if you place it on grid over a counter. If you have previously placed podiums you want to apply this routing fix to, please note it is a CRES edit which means the item has to be cleared from lot and re-purchased in order to actually update.
Download edited podium on SFS
If you have edited yours to add custom foods to the menu, or even just missing maxis foods, and you want the routing fix, I recommend extracting and importing your edited bcons :)
Credits: Sunni for the great idea of a partly invisible podium, it is indeed far more versatile just as she intended
