at least 3 times a day, i see tesblr posts and reblogs that are just like. racist. i don’t quite know what’s going on there, i keep blocking people but more keep showing up and it’s honestly exhausting to have to deal with all the time, and i don’t really want to keep blocking this many people 😭

it’s really no longer fun to see genuine actual anti-indigenous rhetoric or colourism and everything else under the sun applied to fictional people. and i know it’s just fiction, but when you have a fictional race that is very explicitly based on a real life group of people and their culture, and then you see people talking about that fictional race and their culture with real life racist rhetoric, it’s incredibly disheartening. you start to feel so much hopelessness and frustration and shame. it’s difficult, man. and i’m sure people are also getting tired of racism discussion post number 9274759 from me, i’m sure as hell tired of them.

so. yeah. i’m going on a little break for my own sake, it’s really not healthy to see all of this all the time 😭

I decided to do the sketches today and apply the acrylic base coat so I can focus solely on exploring gouache in the coming days.

When it comes to stuff like racism, sexism, homophobia, etc, I’ve found it’s usually way better to think to yourself ‘I don’t want to be’ than ‘I’m not’.
