finally a thing I can contribute to!! I work at a hotel actually (big brand, full service) and we actually donate the used soaps to an organization called the global soap project that ships us plastic boxes and we ship out our soap, and then they ship them to third world countries and places it is harder to get that stuff, which I think is so cool!! and usually at night itâs my job to sort the soap from bottles and bars and weâve already sent out (in less than a year) like 9 full bins of soap and it makes me so so happy! but anyways, if you donât wanna take your soap or donât have the time to donate it, check in with front desk and ask if housekeeping donates the used soap to any type of organization or anything. and it is totally true what people said above that theyâre ordered in bulk. we donât keep track of each individual soap by the number, just the boxes, and even then itâs very lenient if we go through more one week than another because people ask for extra all the time. so if you wanna donate even more soap or whatever, ask for an extra bottle or two of shampoo and conditioner. weâre not gonna get mad. I had a guest ask me for 40 wash cloths for their room last week. no idea why. did not ask.
currently Iâm in the process of asking my gm if he wants to start donating our stained sheets to homeless shelters because weâre not allowed to use sheets that have a stain on them no matter how small (obviously) even if the sheet is clean. (I usually take some of the sheets for my bed because a little stain aint gon hurt anyone and theyâre good for tye dye).
