Some people might wonder "how did it take you so long to get diagnosed with autism?"
Well children, when I was tiny, it was a common belief that girls couldn't have autism
But even more damning (and funny) is the fact that my brother had a special interest as soon as he became aware of his surroundings. His first special interest? The yellow lines on the highway. He would open car doors /While On The Highway/ so he could look at them better. He'd scream if he could see them out the window but couldn't open the door for a closer look. My whole family had to buy mini vans so that they could put him in the middle of the back seat so he couldn't look at the damn yellow lines on the highway
So that's what I was competing with
The signs were there, it's just that the other guy had air horns on his.
My autism was a standard traffic sign
His was a neon flashing advertisement of the DSM
I'm so sorry you lost at autism, bat
He stopped crying and making noises at night ridiculously early on because he didn't want mom to pick him up! I never stood a chance! đ
Just want to say that I think about these tags at least once a week. I should change his ringtone to boss music
Absolutely love that in any other story and any other fandom, there would be a slew of posts talking about how Eva Stratt is a âvery complicated character with a lot of hidden depth;â but instead itâs actually like, no she isnât complicated at all actually. She sends Grace to die to save humanity. Maybe she feels bad about it, maybe not. But she makes that choice knowing itâs the RIGHT choice, because it IS. Itâs a SIMPLE choice. One man or billions of lives? There is absolutely nothing complicated about it.
And her depth isnât hidden. Itâs right there in the open. Sheâs pragmatic and uncompromising and ruthless, because she CARES. She cares about humanity. She NUKES ANTARCTICA because sheâs not willing to compromise millions if not billions of lives just to maintain the planetâs ecosystem. Again, a very simple choice: billions of lives, or a planet that wonât support life in 30 years anyway if she canât figure out how to stop that from happening. The RIGHT choice. An easy choice, for someone like Stratt who knows she will be held solely responsible for her crimes, but there will be people alive to do it.
âIf voting did anything they would outlaw it.â Is such an insane take to me, because literally all of human politics for recorded history has centered around Outlawing the Vote.

a long distance friend is kind of a dead wife in a way
I fully believe that Shane and Ilya cannot agree on an anniversary. Shane says it was the All Stars weekend because that's when he thought they were both 100% serious about the relationship because that's when he was, Ilya says it was the cottage when they said "I love you'' because he didn't believe in it until that moment. They find this out the first year with Shane's anniversary date when Shane plans an elaborate secret date the last night of All Stars and gets Ilya gifts, and Ilya has no idea what its for. They agree to disagree on the date, "We will just celebrate twice a year, I guess." It happens again with their wedding anniversary, Shane says its when they legally got married, Ilya says it was when the twins married them because he doesnt care about about being officially married in the eyes of Canadian law he cares about the first time they said "I do". They find this out when a reporter asks them about their wedding and when they had it and they both gave different answers. Once again they agree to just celebrate twice a year. They say it is because the date doesn't really matter and both of them are right in some way, but in reality it is so they can compete on who plans the more romantic, thoughtful, and elaborate anniversary date. And so that they don't fight about who's planning the date this year or making conflicting plans by accident.
Can @raccoonmilf vouch for this? Super rad if true.
Yes itâs true
I saw a post about Shane and Ilya being sad that they can't thank each other in their acceptance speeches like other can with their spouses and it got me thinking:
Ilya wins his first awards and hes got nobody he really wants to thank after his team and coach cause he he hates his family but he knows his speech is too short so on impulse he goes "And I want to thank Shane Hollander for being slightly worse than me this season". Everyone knows it was going to one of those two, so everyone thinks hes an asshole to say that but whats new so it works for him. But from then on it then becomes a bit for both of them to thank each other in their speeches in a snide way as a reason they won.
Shane winning the Art Ross Trophy (Awarded to the player who leads the league in total points at the end of the regular season). and going "special thanks to Rozanov for missing at least 5 shots this season, he was a huge help"
Ilya winning the Conn Smythe Trophy (Awarded to the most valuable player for his team in the playoffs.) "Just want to give a quick shout out to Hollander for getting knocked out in the second round this season. Must hate to see me up here."
They find a way to mention the other in their speeches every time all the time.
and every time, they sit in their seats like

title of this is just âlesbian sexâ
lot of terfs have been reblogging this so I may as well publicly state that the woman on the right is modeled with permission after my transfemme friend. if you relate to it as strongly as many of you claim in the tags I urge you to reflect upon that with empathy and compassion about the depth of experiences you truly do share with trans women.
otherwise fuck off I guess. my art is not fuel for your hatred.
Housekeepers and Janitors Need Praise As Unsung but Very Much Important
Remember when the NRA told doctors to âstay in their laneâ RE gun violence and #thisismylane trended as a result?
One of the tweets I saw was a surgeon whoâd taken a picture of her OR, having just finished surgery on a young man whoâd been shot. Blood. Everywhere.
This bloke retweeted her, mentioning that he worked as a cleaner in a hospital and had had to clean up stuff like this and worse.
Surgeon replied to him (and went up *greatly* in my estimation) and, despite living in different countries, thanked him for his hard work.
I canât find the tweets sadly, but hers went something like;
âWithout a clean and sterile operating room to work in, my team, our skills and the best medicines in the world are next to useless. You are doing invaluable work, without which my work would be impossible.â
I work as a nurse, and a huge amount of the care credited to us is actually certified nursing assistants, or CNAs (or âtechsâ). These are the folks who do a huge amount of the grunt work of cleaning up poop, changing dirty linens, feeding people, getting folks up to the chair and back to the bed, back and forth to and from the bathroom, etc, and they get paid, like, half of what we do.
I never see âCNA Appreciation Weekâ or âwe love our CNAsâ or people talking about how amazing our techs are.
God bless our CNAs. And housekeeping. And janitors, and supply staff, and sanitation workers, and all those folks doing the grunt work of making sure weâre not living in filth.
me: âyeah I dated a guy in high school who came out as gay. it was before i knew i was a boy so needless to say it didnât work outâ
coworker: âdamn dude was preorderingâ
other things this coworker (who is a cis guy) has done/said:
âgot confused about why Iâd never been a boy scout because he forgot i was trans
âtold me he was gonna get top surgery scar tattoos to match me after i get mine
âlaughs at all my trans jokes, even if theyâre supremely unfunny
âcalls me big dog (and him little dog) even though he is about as tall as two of me
â âI canât believe she would say that transphobic thing to you. In June? Pride month?â
Once I said "My gender is whatever's funniest at the time" and my coworker stops dead in his tracks, turns slowly and says "So are your pronouns honk/honk?" killing me instantly
I was talking to a friend I knew before I transitioned about my new relationship (my first one ever!) and I said "Yeah, I think I only indentified as aro/ace most of my life because I didn't have lesbian as an option" and he looked me dead in the eye and said "Oh? Why not? ...Ohhh"
Then he said "You know, I completely forgot you weren't always this way. Femininity really suits you" and let me tell you I started tearing up
Of course, not ten minutes later I mentioned that I had to relearn how to sing and he said "oh no, what happened?" so he might just be a little slow
Update on that friend: a bunch of people sent me "he's a little confused, but he's got the spirit" gifs in response to that story. I can tell you now with certainty that she definitely has the spirit, and she's not confused anymore
maybe there never were any twin towers. like did u ever see them?
So I know all you kids are joking around but no, youâre not allowed to make jokes about this. No.
Canât just leave this in the tags, @the-starboy-symbiont

They move in together full time and Ilya notices that Anya acts differently with Shane than she does with him, more quiet and less playful, and he worries that means she doesnât like Shane or is jealous, so he hires a dog trainer to come over and see if thereâs anything they need to do to help
After a while of talking about how Anya acts the trainer says thereâs nothing to worry about, Anya likes Shane just fine, itâs just that she sees him as the boss and is acting accordingly
And Ilya is like. But. Iâm the one who adopted her? And raised her before Shane got here?? And the trainer is just like yeah well she sees you more like an equal. And Ilya is like WAIT she thinks Shane is in charge of both of us?? And the trainer is just like well do you interact in a way that would make her think that?
Ilyaâs life flashes before his eyes as he thinks of all the times Shane has come over with a snack for Ilya and a treat for Anya, or all the times Shane has announced theyâre all going for an after dinner walk, or pets Ilyaâs hair and tells him he did a good job at practice, or the fact that he uses the same warning tone with Anya when she misbehaves as he does with Ilya when heâs causing problems on purpose
Shane comes home to Ilya with his face in his hands going oh god Iâm not Anyaâs dad Iâm her brother and she thinks weâre both your pets. And Shane just goes. What.
If you have seated tickets at a concert. Don't. Stand. Up. đŤľ
seated tickets at concerts are not:
- tickets for people who didn't get standing tickets in time
- standing tickets with the option of having a little rest when you're tired of standing
seated tickets at concerts are:
- for people who aren't physically able to stand for a whole show
- for families who don't want to get separated
- for fucking sitting
if you wanted to standing and got sitting, grow up and sit down
swear to god the next person who stands up in front of me in the seated area is getting a tick on the back of their neck
Fucking thank you. I literally cannot stand up for more than a few minutes at a time bc of nerve damage from having a tumor removed from inside my spine. The number of shows I've gone to and bought seated tickets and not been able to see...
... yeah.
Not quite as annoying as the bouncer at a comedy show who told me "We don't do that for sold-out shows*" about the ADA request for a booth that I'd been told by email months prior was totally fine and going to happen, but very close.
*I only barely kept myself from saying, "Oh, I didn't realize the Americans With Disabilities Act didn't count for sold out shows," and just went to find the house manager instead. That club fucked up so many times after assuring me I could sit in a booth instead of a wobbly chair that we just stopped going, though.
