I am so fucking sick of how rude and mean people are to the Tumblr staff. Do you guys even realize how you’re speaking to them??
The update is good? “For once, staff is doing something right.”
The update is not? “Staff screwing stuff up, like usual.”
Do you guys??? even realize??? That there are actual PEOPLE behind this website, that read these messages?
How many of you guys claim not to condone this behavior when it comes to talking to irl people? Friends, parents, children, teachers — heck, even online friends?
How many of you guys complain on your blogs about dealing with consumers behaving like this?
How many of you actually gave your words some thoughts before commenting on @staff’s post? How many of you bothered to go check the ‘read more about it’ section?
Tumblr is a free website. You don’t need to pay to create an account, you don’t have ‘prenium membership’, you can customize your blog however you want…
You realize Tumblr has a budget, right? Bots, programms, staff, keeping a website up — that shit costs money. Yet you’re not paying anything, but you’re allowed to abuse the staff like this?
Because that’s what it is. It’s an abusive behavior from a consumer.
We’re angry. We don’t believe this to be the right solution. The system flagging our posts is flawed. I know. I get it. It’s frustrating to me too. But screaming at Tumblr is not the way to fix this.
What’s happening right now is that the staff is trying to fix their website with a DYSFUNCTIONNAL BOT and with a policy not everyone agrees on. What’s happening right now is that, instead of behaving like civil human beings, you guys are yelling, bashing and scaring Tumblr into avoiding change.
Is Tumblr staff the best team? No.
But are the users behaving correctly? Also no.
TL;DR : Stop behaving like assholes to people who dedicate their time
and energy to the website you choose to spend your time on.
