If the reciprocation was in the original script and the CW cut it off cause they decided to go with that shitty ending, this is the proof. They forgot to tell their homophobic plans to SouthAmerican countries.

Everything about the supernatural finale plot line so far has been just one huge love letter to the fandom and death of the author.

When Chuck was revealed to be God but still the author of “the story”, he was still seen as a positive figure.

It didn’t matter that reality was essentially his story. It was only when he refused to let his “characters” be who they actually turned out to be instead of what he intended that there was a problem.

This is essentially the writers being self aware and recognizing that at a certain point, your story is not your own anymore. It grows and changes, has a mind of its own, and is influenced by the 1, 10, or 1,000’s of people who love it deeply. And they’re saying that that’s right. That’s how it should be.

Case and point, say it with me friends...

Castiel.

Cas was meant to be in a few episodes as sort of like a “Clarence” (no pun intended) figure then pitter off, and now he’s been a beloved part of the show for 12 years.

Because of us. if Chuck avatar-for-the-writers Shurley is anything to go off of, the writers 100% did not intend this, want us to know they did not intend this, and say “who tf cares, it’s amazing anyway”

Cas was never meant to fall in love with Dean (and hopefully vice versa, I just don’t want this to age terribly 😬), but so many of us saw ourselves in the way they acted around each other, a show intended as, let’s be honest, kind of a dude bro thing, gained thousands of lgbt fans, we loved these two so deeply for years, that he did anyway. Even if it started as an accident, they somehow fell in love purely because we saw it. And you know what the writers said?

That that’s what’s real. They may start off with different intentions, but our interpretation made it something entirely different, wonderful and true. A story isn’t an object to be carved in Stone like Chuck thinks, it’s a living, breathing entity that is driven and shaped by love, whoever loves it enough.

I read somewhere that the supernatural writers said something along the lines of “it’s certainly not a game of thrones ending” and I choose to take that very literally. The writers of game of thrones essentially ended up kissing their own asses by having this weird cop-out “storytellers are the greatest people ever and we owe everything to them”, and the ending of supernatural so far says wholeheartedly “fuck that.”

Storytellers can be stubborn, storytellers can be wrong, storytellers can think they know exactly how something should be and accidentally ruin it. When an author keeps their characters closely guarded and don’t allow them to organically become whatever they’ve come to mean to those the story is loved by, with or without them, it all falls apart.

Calling Jensen's acting in the confession scene "homophobic"? Ya'll don't know your characters very much then.

Shall I remind you that this is Dean Winchester we are discussing? Dean "Emotions? Never heard of her" Winchester.

Now, I want you to really look at the these clips. Eyes, mouth, jaw, throat. Everything. Look.

How can you say this is a homophobic face.

This is the look of a man who has lost someone dear to him MULTIPLE TIMES and knows he's about to... once more

This is a man convinced he is not deserving of love. This is him, for a moment, catching what he had been longing all his life, and being taken aback by the circumstances.

Castiel is happy for confessing his love to Dean? Well, he's going to die right after.

As soon as he senses it, he gives a questioning look.

"You're not... Are you about to say-"

And the cat is out of the bag. Fuck.

While Castiel sees Dean's influence (I'm serious, no influence joke here) on him as a blessing, his gate away to life

Dean sees it as a curse. He only sees one more of his loved ones dying because of him. And that's too much for him at that point.

Look at those eye. Look at his throat. The hard swallow. That's sadness.

This is Dean, knowing Cas has damned himself, because of him.

Glossy eyes, lips trembling, he whispers "Don't do this, Cas." (Don't leave me again.)

Is this the face of someone going "eww no homo bro" to you?

Cuz what I see is

"I'm a 40 year old emotionally repressed man, living in an apocalyptic world, about to die by the hands of Death herself, and my best friend (who I might have feelings for) just confessed his love for me to my face, and he is going to die for it. I'm overwhelmed."

Dean is Mr "Need at least 3 days to process". He has trauma. He doesn't deal with emotions. And when he does, it's hard for him to fully express himself.

Seeing the Empty and Death coming for them, is what finally snaps him awake, as he panics and tries to say something, but is stopped by Cas, by the gentle touch of his hand on his shoulder.

(he thought for a moment that Cas was gonna kiss him, that's why he was confused when Cas pushed him away)

And then Cas is gone. For good.

This is the despair of a man who just lost AT LEAST his best friend

A man who is now contemplating what he could have said or done before it was too late.

A man down spiraling into his self hatred, for everyone he dares to love, and everyone stupid enough to love him, always end up hurt or dead.

Jensen's acting was great. Flawless. In character. Perfect. Without a shadow of a doubt.

And since I know it will be brought: "Dean can't reciprocate." from the script.

Key word "CAN'T". Not "doesn't".

Dean "emotional garbage" Winchester, who just escaped God and is being chased by Death, who just almost killed his son and his brother out of desperation, can't handle the love of his life confessing to him out of the blue and thus signing up for his doom.

He has two aunts who he loves very dearly.

He has played a queer character before.

He has every right to feel uncomfortable when fans project destiel IRL and tell him he should be in a relationship with one of his best friends, when he is happily married and has three kids.

“Buddy the sable is playing boomerang”
