I think the greater crime than the bad hair is that they turned Anthony into ANGEL Crowley. Astrophysics and all. Zero reference to snakes/ plants/ music/ cars. I say this with zero fucking love for the church, I am forced to go to an evangelical bordering on fundamentalist church a minimum of like 2 times a week. I say this as someone whose father preached a sermon about not altering yourself to "fit the world's view" while looking me dead in the eyes in front of the entire congregation a week after I tried to come out to him as trans. I say this as someone who watched older people in my church only start covering up suspect white supremacist tattoos and stop wearing Confederate flags to church as soon as my black younger brothers started coming to church. like yes. very, very fucking often, that is what the church is, and when one of our queer siblings tries to be openly queer and happy in that space, those people are unlikely to accept them, so we have to.

We don’t stay because the church loves us, we stay because we have a deep, unexplainable conviction that God does.
