Still thinking about how Grace was always treated as disposable. Kicked out of his passion field for his honesty—underpaid as a (very good) teacher, to the point he can’t afford a car—left alone in a room full of argon with a sample that might kill him, while all the indispensable guys who put him there stood on the other side of the glass and watched. Shoved screaming into a mission that would kill him. And then, then this bonkers little alien who just met him gladly trades years off his life (via extended return mission) to save him. Runs burning through deadly air to keep him from dying. Chooses finally to weave their lives together forever and recreate Grace’s best dreams of Earth to make him happy. No wonder Grace told Rocky he doesn’t have to get him a gift, he’s given him everything. To one little spider guy, Grace is irreplaceable. That’s love.

Not a single one of Dean’s suspicions has anything to do with the fact that upon their first meeting, Castiel insults his shoes, his general existence, and his masculinity by— looking at him like that.

We all know the sacred texts of the Destiel fandom, but just in case you don't--buckle in for this one!

Dean keeps shaking his head. Everything is moving in waves. “You can’t be gay,” he whispers desperately, “you ride a motorcycle.” Castiel takes a few deep breaths. “Dean, you’ve made it clear—crystal clear—that you are very, very heterosexual. If those two lines don't convince you that this fic is worth reading, then let me continue the propaganda. This fic has humor and angst and emotion, along with one of the most interesting character studies of Dean that the fandom has ever produced. It has a ton of appearances from our favorite secondary characters, along with some hilarious and touching Thanksgiving scenes. But what really sets it apart (at least to me) is the relationship between Dean and Cas.

Even though Dean and Cas alternate from being enemies to friends and then a strange combination of frenemies with benefits, they are always completely obsessed with each other. No matter where Cas is in a room, Dean is always paying attention to him. They are each the most important thing to the other, even when they would like to pretend like they're not. Love is always held in the bickering, and Dean and Cas have enough of it to last throughout this fic.
