I am not a satanist so I can not provide in-depth knowledge but there are many branches/types of satanism. Here is the ones I know of.. I might get a few things wrong but as said before I don’t practice satanism.

The Church of Satan: The church of Satan belives in no deity except for that of yourself! You are your own god/goddess. You worship yourself in the form of self-love, self betterment, happiness, and pursuing knowledge. To name a few. This branch of satanism encourages sex, but sexual acts towards children or animals are considered sins. (This church was founded by the man who wrote the satanic bible)

The Satanic Temple: Above all this branch encourages benevolence and empathy as well as the embrace of common sense and justice. This group does not worship Satan as a deity but rather as a figure off rebellion. Recently you may have heard that the temple erected a statue of Baphomet on public property in Detroit because of the city building a statue of the 10 Commandments. They also held a “Pink Mass” at the funeral of Westboro Baptist Church Leader Fred Phelps’ mother. Gay couples were welcomed to the pink mass and encouraged to publicly display affection and wish for Phelps’ mother to be “gay in the afterlife.”

Luciferianism: Luciferians are most concerned with the pursuit of knowledge. They worship Lucifer (mostly as a symbol but some as a deity) rather than Satan. To them he embodies self-determination and liberation from the slave mentality. Luciferians’ main goal is to help people “take responsibility for their own life and act as an individual moral agent, using the full potential of their own genius and thereby optimizing possibilities.”

This speech-language pathologist taught her dog 29 words, and he can even form full sentences.

They do understand our words. This is not true of all domesticated animals (horses, for example, can only manage to distinguish a relatively small number of spoken commands…but boy do they know what you’re really saying).

They don’t understand “just your tone of voice” as a lot of people think.

As of 2016 the record vocabulary for a dog demonstrating understanding of words is over 1,000.

So if you give them a way to talk back, they’re going to use it.

The development of language skills is probably a side effect of domestication and of being kept in close contact with humans. A dog that was a better hunting partner would be kept and bred and over time they developed a better understanding of language.

In other words, dogs are pretty dang smart because we need them to understand us.

Check out the owner Christina’s Instagram: one of the first things I saw was a video where the dog started barking and, when prompted by the owner, said “outside, look look look look look look look, come outside.” Which is basically exactly how one would expect a dog to speak. 

The owner described bringing an unknown package into the house, and the dog ran away to push the buttons for “help no no help help” which is also about what I expect goes on in a scared pup’s mind.

In another video, the dog tried to push a button, and the button wasn’t working. The dog paused and then pushed the buttons for “No. Help.” 

In yet another (which the owner seemed impressed by), Stella said “come eat come play.” The owner asked the dog which she wanted to do, to eat or to play? And the dog clarified “come eat.” After eating, then the dog tried to instigate play. So the dog may have been able to understand a short spoken question, and how “questions and answers” work, and also understands sequences, even if she can’t express them (”I want to eat, THEN I want to play”)

Stella can even recount short-term memories, like when her family returned from the beach for dinner and she said “water good, no eat, play”

By the way, the owner uses the buttons as well, which probably really helps reinforce their meaning. She uses them to say things like “Stella all done eat” or “Stella and Christina go outside, bye!”

Long before female nurses were officially considered to be a part of the military, they were already on the battlefield. They merely didn’t get written into official reports because they were “invisible women”, “not supposed to be there”. Usually they would be local women running a makeshift care center out of their homes.

Movies involving ancient societies? Guess how many had female fighters?

Spies? Mostly female. Yeah, only the men were caught, usually (because nobody suspected the servant woman), but historians believe most cases had more women spies than men. Most cases meaning across time and continents.

Giving me a movie on samurai? Women were trained as well to avoid being captured and raped, and often fought just as hard as men. One woman notably survived multiple battles, and became a hero alongside her sisters after taking out 7 men before dying in her last fight (usually in sword fighting you’d be lucky to take out 2 enemy soldiers. 7 is fucking insane, but because she was a woman it was shoved under the records how the lord managed to survive).

Women have ALWAYS been on battlefields. Women have an intense history in driving victories and losses alike. They were supply runners, fighters, spies, assassins, prostitutes (look up how prostitutes essentially ran the western world, or even the social status of harem members. They literally fucking ruled), even underground activists.

And she’s supportive of my writing about queerness but also kind of bitter about how quickly her entire generation’s history has disappeared into a bland “AIDS was bad, gay marriage solved homophobia” narrative, and now we’re having to play catch-up to educate young LGBTQ+ people about queer history and queer theory. It gets pretty raw sometimes.

I mean, a large part of the reason TERFs have been good at educating the young and queer people haven’t is, in the 80s and 90s the leading lights of TERFdom got tenured university positions, and the leading lights of queerdom died of AIDS.

When an epidemic happens, public health agencies spend millions of dollars trying to understand what happens: Why are people sick or dying? What caused it? Who else is at risk? Government health departments like the Centres for Disease control and private companies both invest hundreds of millions of dollars into preserving public health. This happened in 1977, when military veterans who all attended the same gathering began to get sick with a strange type of pneumonia, with 182 cases and 29 dead, and the CDC traced the illness to a bacterium distributed by the air conditioning system of a hotel they all stayed at, and in 1982, when seven people died of tainted Tylenol, and pharmaceutical companies changed the entire way their products were made and packaged to prevent more deaths.

Meanwhile, the AIDS epidemic took six years to be recognized by the CDC (1975-1981) because at first the only people dying were intravenous drug users, which is to say, heroin addicts; when it was recognized, President Reagan’s government pressured the CDC to spend as little time and money on AIDS as possible, because they literally didn’t think gay lives were important. So yes, hospitals refused to treat them and medical staff treated them as disgusting people who deserved to die, but also, there was very little funding for scientists to understand what this disease was, what caused it, where it came from, how it spread, or how to stop it. The LGBTQ+ community had to organize and fight to get hospitals to treat them, to fund scientific research, to be legally allowed to buy the drugs that kept them alive, and to have access to treatment. An effective treatment for AIDS wasn’t found until 1995.

And it’s ongoing; a lot of the difficulty of fighting AIDS in Africa is that it’s seen as “the gay disease” (and thanks to European colonialism, even African societies that used to be okay with us were taught to think LGBTQ+ people are bad).  Even now that we have medications that can treat or prevent AIDS, they’re incredibly expensive and hard to get; in 2015, New York businessman Martin Shkreli acquired the exclusive right to make a drug that treats an AIDS-related disease, and raised its price from $13.50 a pill to $750 a pill. 

Here’s one history on what it was like to have and fight AIDS, one history on how politicians responded to the epidemic, and if you can get a copy of the documentary How to Survive a Plague, it’s a good introduction, because it’s about how AIDS patients had to fight for their lives. A lot of these histories are imperfect and incomplete, because privilege played a big part in whose lives and deaths were seen as important–Poor people, people of colour, trans people, and drug addicts were less likely to be able to afford or access medical care, and more likely to die without being remembered; histories often tend to focus on straight people who got AIDS through no fault of their own, and then white cis gay men who seem more “respectable” and “relatable”.  

Hospitals refused to treat them, and when they did get admitted, treated them like dirt so their will-to-live was eroded - refused to let long-term partners visit them, staff acted like they were disgusting nuisances, etc.

Very little funding was put into finding causes or cures - AIDS was considered “god’s punishment” for immoral behavior by a whole lot of people.

Once causes were understood (effective treatments were a long ways off), information about those causes weren’t widely shared - because it was a “sex disease” (it wasn’t) and because a huge number of the victims were gay or needle-drug users, and the people in charge of disease prevention (or in charge of funding) didn’t care if all of those people just died.

Not until it started hitting straight people and superstar celebrities (e.g. Rock Hudson) did it get treated as A Real Problem - and by that time, it had reached terrifying epidemic conditions.

ok lance and keith meet in middle school probably — i can just imagine them. both scrawny and competitive during a game of dodgeball. opposing teams. it always comes down to just the two of them. they’re crazy obsessed w. beating each other?

whatever. one day they’re paired up on the same team and bam. they become keithandlance, lanceandkeith. they’re inseparable after that.

now it’s high school. they’re best friends. it’s Them and it’s also hunk and pidge and allura. they’re a group. everyone knows it. but keith and lance? they’re a lil different. i mean...they’re keithandlance?

they’re there for all of the important stages (well most of them).

they psych each other up for football and soccer and baseball tryouts and end up being The Duo at every sport :p they’re there for the driving lessons that turn into late night drives to 7/11 for slurpees and swimming lessons that turn into trips to the lake and karate lessons that turn into play fighting in hunk’s basement. they do everything together because why not?

lance is there when keith breaks his arm trying to skate down a flight of stairs. he’s there when shiro is gone on long trips to wherever and keith has nightmares of shiro never returning. and he’s still there when shiro does come back and with a boyfriend in tow, who eventually becomes a fiancée. lance is there when keith confesses that he Hates adam because what if he takes shiro away? he’s there through all of the moods and the silent treatments and the nightmares. he’s also there for the laughs and the eventual reconciliation of adam and keith (adam: we were enemies? huh. did not know that. okay.)

keith is there for lance’s first date (probably a winter dance? i can just picture lance being So nervous and keith helping him get into his cute lil tux and is just like “lance, chill. it’s gonna be ok. she’s just a girl. she won’t bite you.” and lance is lance so he says “what if i want her to?” and he hasn’t even had his first kiss yet but they crack up and it works in calming lance’s nerves.. and later lance tells keith all about it. (“there was so much spit, keith. are all kisses gonna be like that? i don’t know if i can do it, man) (keith is probably pining at this point— or like half-pining? ‘why does lance kissing someone who isn’t me make me sad? hm probably doesn’t mean anything, whatever.’) keith is there when lance feels unappreciated by his family and why couldn’t i be an only child? i feel so invisible and fuck, i didn’t mean that keith i swear— And. it’s okay, lance. let’s talk about it. he’s there when lance’s sisters move out and his nieces and nephews births.

point is: they’re there for each other. they’ve got each other’s backs. they make a good team.

alright now back to the real reason i made this post

keith is full on pining at this point. lance is amazing and beautiful and kind and caring and funny and his laugh—

right. so he’s in love with his best friend. cool. his best friend who has a girlfriend. a girlfriend who’s one of keith’s friends and anyway they’re good together and he cant mess that up. he’s not That terrible.

sooner or later his crush becomes white noise (or bckgrnd noise??? idk.) he learns to live with it. not quite ignore it but he’s ok with it most days. just having lance as his best friend is enough. even after lance and his gf break up, keith still doesn’t say anything about his feelings, he doesn’t wanna ruin everything

there are however......these moments

these moments include:

sometimes when keith has a nightmare, lance will hold him after and they’d just stare into each other’s eyes for hours without moving. noses touches. eyes blinking. and keith would feel something happening but—

lance likes to hold his hand. a lot. ppl have commented about it but lance either ignores it or shrugs it off or goes on and on about toxic masculinity and if i can’t show affection for my best friend blah blah (lance: keith why r ur hands always so sweaty. keith: haha...um..i have a condition) the condition is Gay.

sometimes lance goes up to keith and for no reason whatsoever and gives him kisses on his cheek and his shoulder and his forehead...keith never knows how to respond to that.

for some reason, lance never likes Any of the guys keith decides to like. “keith, come on. really? him? he can’t even make one decent pass. you can do better.” and “i don’t know, keith. i heard he still eats his boogers.”

and then there’s the worst ones. the ones where they’ll be talking until sunrise about stupid boy things and not so stupid boy things but actual serious life things and their voices turn into whispers and they’re sitting on the floor leaning back against lance’s bed and lance will look at him with those eyes of his and whisper “i really love you, keith. i’m so glad we’re best friends.” and keith would hurt but also smile cause he’s happy and he’ll whisper back “i love you too. being your best friend is...my favorite thing in the world” even when he’s wishing they were best friends and boyfriends. he hates and loves those moments all the same.

(also yes ppl do think they’re dating. they always get questions and comments about it and keith tunes them out but lance will say something like and what if we were? what’re gonna do about it?)

keith is ok. he really is.

lance goes to prom with a beautiful girl and keith helps him with his tux again. keith goes to prom with a handsome boy who lance has a ‘weird feeling’ about. (..right). they have fun. it’s ok.

it’s the summer after they graduate. they have the ~summer of their dreams~ ....they jump off of cliffs holding hands and they sneak into movie theaters (hunk is the one distracting the ticket booth ppl so they can sneak in probably). they go to concerts and ride their bikes to watch the sunsets and play 4 thousand games of laser tag. they have fun. they have fun because they’re together and nothing is better than being with the ppl you love.

it’s the last day of summer. they’ve done everything together but now...it’s time to separate. they’re going to different colleges ( :O!!! ) it’s bittersweet. they know they have to take separate paths but they promise to keep in touch and you really think im gonna forget you, keith? nah. impossible. and then there’s an Almost kiss, keith swears they almost kiss (they do but they don’t). it’s a brush of lips before lance pulls back with a laugh that’s not really a laugh and it’s late, we should go home. (lance has def been pining too but he’s scared and that’s why he doesn’t kiss keith even tho he’s been wanting it for Years.)

and they do..keep in touch. they hear all about late night studying and parties and embarrassing falls down stairs in front of that really cute person and annoying roommates and evil professors and they exchange endless i miss you’s and i wish you were here’s and i can’t wait to hug you’s

keith gets a boyfriend. lance gets a girlfriend...and then a boyfriend? and keith. keith is..feeling something. he’s over his crush anyway.............. he’s just happy lance is happy. (one night when he’s feeling particularly lonely, he packs a bag and flies out to see lance at college and lance is over the moon to see him Right before he starts hitting keith with the nearest book because keith is a fool who has homework and shit due.)

mhm yeah keith is obvs Over lance. he’s so over him. definitely doesn’t spend his free time daydreaming about a life with a guy who looks and sounds and act suspiciously like lance. definitely doesn’t compare every potential boyfriend to lance. definitely doesn’t say i love you and really mean i’m in love with you

those relationships don’t last for obvious reasons but the relationships that do last? theirs. and they still have their friends. and stupid brother-in-laws who call keith to complain about shiro and— maybe adam isn’t so bad after all :)

they’re still there for the big moments. first internships and first failed exams and first college parties. (they live on facetime)

ANYWAY!

neither of them bring up any feelings until......graduation. again.

lance had flown in for keith’s graduation and now keith is flying in for lance’s.....and.........keith is back to helping lance with his tux. just like when they were younger. lance looks gorgeous. his eyes are bright and he’s trying so hard to smile and keith cant take it anymore. lance is Right There. so why isn’t he doing anything about it?

he’s fixing lance’s tie and lance is bouncing with nerves. “fuck, i’m so nervous. keith, what if i trip and fall and embarrass myself in front of ev—“ and keith kisses him. he kisses him.

in the moment between that first press of lips and the surprised gasp from lance...keith thinks he could have used a better way to shut lance up. he pulls back because lance hadn’t kissed back so he obviously didn’t want it but— no, wait. lance pulls keith right back in with both hands cupping his face and it’s—

it feels like a kiss. a real kiss. a kiss that’s been building up for years. a kiss that’s full of comfort and warmth and love. it’s a perfect first kiss.

they’ve both kissed other people in their lives but..this feels like the one that matters. this one feels like the only one.

THEY KISSED. foreheads are touching and hands are gripping tightly to suit jackets and they keep going back in for more kisses and it’s intoxicating and— wow, kogane. if i’d known you kissed that good i woulda kissed you a long time ago. keith laughs. he laughs because he’s so fucking happy.

“you’re graduating. we’re graduating. we gonna go our separate ways again?”

“nah. i’m not letting you slip away again. not this time and not ever again. you okay with that?”

he smiles again. “yeah, lance. i’m okay with that.”

they kiss again. who knew kissing could feel this good.

I find that so interesting, because god knows Tumblr and fandom and fans at large tend to love tricksy bastards who play chess games in their heads.  Dumbledore’s far from the first old man who sent other people to die for his war.  He’s not the first character who’s manipulated kids, or raised children to be warriors because he believed they had to be.  He’s a long, long way from the first desperately flawed mastermind we’ve seen.  But god, do fans hate Albus Dumbledore.

And I wonder: how much of that is because we feel like Dumbledore betrayed Harry, and how much of it is because we feel like Dumbledore betrayed us?

Most of us were so young when we started reading the Harry Potter books.  The world was magic and Harry’s home was terrible, and a kindly old man with twinkling eyes and a white beard winked, and seemed to know everything in the world, and we thought he’d promised to take care of each and every child given unto his care.  We thought that meant us too.

There’s a thing that happens as kids grow up, when they begin to realize that their parents and the adults around them are flawed and broken and making things up as they go, and sometimes make very real mistakes.  Sometimes as grown-ups we find ways to forgive the adults that raised us for all the good and bad they did, and sometimes we cut them out of our lives forever.  But there’s always that feeling of betrayal, with the realization that a trusted adult did actually cause us harm–and not just because they used their best judgment and tried their best to protect us and it wasn’t enough, but because they decided something else was more important than our well-being and meant it.

As a human and a character, Albus Dumbledore is fascinating, flawed, fallible, with complicated priorities and a chess board for a brain, and he’s motivated by guilt and big-picture thinking and ego and a very real desire to do good for the world in the broadest possible sense all at once.  As an adult that Harry trusted he failed rather badly, but it’s up to Harry to decide how he feels about that, and Harry has plenty of complicated feelings of grief and forgiveness and self-sacrifice of his own.
