Two minutes. Two minutes, one very stupid mugger, and one well-placed camera to undo a lifetime spent cultivating the image of delicate feminity the industry demanded of idols. And now-

She grimaced at the next article: a listicle compiling people's...opinions on how she handled that mugger.

Opinions she knew for a fact Rumi would not want to see.

Deliberately skipping over that article, she moved to the next one.

What was it Zoey said- half as a joke- when she found out her favorite show got cancelled and ended on a cliffhanger?

Oh yes.

As you can see, the new sprites look really good and still faithful to the originals! There were more sprites shown off in footage but I'm only going to highlight one of each, if you want to see more of these sprites look at WindermedV2's videos on twitter.

I tried scanning these sprites for any new additions like the new logo on Nagito's shirt or Peko's longer hair braid but the only thing I could find is that Nekomaru has a waist band and Kazuchi's hair is a little longer.

Also, very interesting to see that the DR2 character intro animations are pretty much the same but made more pretty!

Hiyoko got her big ass hair out of her name lol.

Hajime was made a little bigger in the 3D overhead mode compared to the first trailer. Plus we get to see the Airport and Rocketpunch Market.

The airport especially got a huge upgrade!

But what also got an upgrade was the Hotel Site.

They...wow. They expended it and added the pool. I didn't even realize the pool wasn't even in the first build, that's so funny.

We get a video of walking around the Hotel Site and while it looks really good, there's nothing new we haven't seen yet.

We do get a first look at inside the airport and the visual overhaul here is really stellar. I love the new welcome sign.

We see Akane (yay) and the death portraits.

It actually kinda looks like the death X mark is different in 2x2. Maybe we get new designs for each character.

I also have to point that Fuyuhiko should be next to Akane but he's not see at all in the new screenshot. I guess his sprites really aren't ready.

I think that covers everything new, If I missed anything I'll reblog this post. But I will end this post off with the name of the new scenario.

"Slayhem" A combination of slay and mayhem. What this entails could be anything. Will 2x2 be more gorey? More brutal deaths and executions? Will there be more deaths so the end of the game has fewer survivors? Will the island become a more chaotic battle ground as opposed to the peaceful sunny days of Daily Life in OG DR2?

And what about that blurb at the bottom? "Original Mode completion recommended" Beating the full DR2 story is necessary for Slayhem, knowing all the twists and story elements from DR2 is needed to get the full enjoyment of Slayhem.

This just strongly implies that 2x2 will lean into NWP and remnants of despair way way earlier in the story. Maybe the theory that the simulation will have a glitch or Alter Ego Junko will change more things about the island will happen in the new story. I'm kinda scared at this cause the door is wide open for anything to happen in this story.

And I have to say, I guess I was wrong that the new scenario is triggered after the prologue. It starts here but that begs the question if Slayhem will have the same prologue as DR2. It assumes you already beat DR2 so needing to get to know the characters again would be redundant.

In any case, we still have much more waiting to do. Early 2027....Please be in January or February. Is the reason for the delay because they are still making all the assets like sprites? I heard the ENG Vas have not started recording lines, probably becuase the English script has not been finished yet. Oof, maybe this delay is a good thing so they can polish the game to the best it can be but why tease us with 2026 in the first place? Unless it was just an assumption they could finish the game that fast but development ran into a few snags.
