SHE KISSED HER!!!!
Based on her and Isaac, we can presume that Keta is primarily attracted to powerful sorcerer crime bosses. It could work!
Iâm trying not to get my hopes up but I canât help it.
I canât handle this! This is too much.
We have to save Elvis!!!!

National Geographic on Facebook: this is a facial reconstruction of a teenage girl who lived 9000 years ago based on her remains!
half the comments: men criticizing her looks and saying sheâs unattractive and mannish
anyway this is the reconstruction and I always enjoy seeing the faces of prehistoric humans and how much we have in common over thousands of years despite how incredibly different our lives are. I support her and I think she looks wonderful.
everyone in the replies of this post saying âwell I think sheâs pretty!â missed the whole damn point lmao
I remember watching a documentary once where historians were trying to work out who a dead girl was and what her life was like. Iâm pretty sure they dated the body back to the early Victorian era, and established pretty early on that she lived in poverty, died young, and was most certainly a prostitute.
The grand finale of the show was the reveal of her reconstructed face. Now, bare in mind that through their investigations they discovered that she had lived an awful life and died an agonizing death (syphilis iirc). So, you can imagine my disgust when the historians reacted with disappointment at the reveal of her âfaceâ. This poor girl, who had suffered terribly, was obviously not the poor, tragic beauty they had been hoping for.
She was plain, maybe some would say she was ugly, but what was truly hideous was the fact that you could practically see the sympathy these historians had for this poor girl slip away as they looked at her âfaceâ, and you could certainly hear it in their voices.
Even in death our value rests on the basis of our looks. Sympathy is conditional - based on where you fall on the looks scale.
Science: *gives us the miracle of seeing long-dead faces*

âStar Trek always features a central cast with a captain reminiscent of Platoâs (429â347 BCE) metaphorical charioteer, whose responsibility is to balance the reins of two horses pulling in different directionsâone driven by passion, the other by intellect. In TOS, Captain James T. Kirk is the charioteer, balancing the pull between Dr. Leonard McCoy,who navigates with his feelings, and Mr. Spock, who leans in a rigorously logical direction. The captain is able to steer the ship by bringing together the best of what each of these two advisors has to offer. And heâs able to do so because he can balance his own passion and reason, like a good charioteer harnessing two wild steeds. Kirk is thus able to manifest the appropriate emotional response to deal with each situation appropriately, balancing the full range of emotions between pride and humility.â

How one comes to shipping Tomione
Me, first time reading Harry Potter:
Hermione and Ron are cute, but she should have ended up with Harry.
Me, re-reading the series:
Why the hell did not she marry Draco?
Me, after having watched the film series:
OMG, TOM RIDDLE is soooo handsome.
Hermione and Tom would be perfect together.
This is Love.
Star Trek: TOS as Vines â¨â¨â¨
i. The first time their souls recognized each other was during the Renaissance. He was a magnificent scholar. Tom stepped into the bookstore she worked at and was captivated. Their days consisted of his political rants and books; so many books. He wrote thousands of songs and poetry dedicated to her. They spent many years together, eventually married. Hermione never had children, but they traveled the world and saw everything man had to offer at the time. It had been so marvelous.
ii. The second time was far less picturesque. It was 1964 and she was a passionate black woman; he an intelligent, intolerable racist. He had called her a nigger and stuck his nose up to her. She had punched him in the nose. They kept running into each other at protests and rallies, getting into heated arguments. One time he had gotten splattered with tear gas and she pulled his slouched body fives miles to her house and cleaned his eyes with a wet towel. Little changed. They had children this time, just not with each other.
iii. World War ll had just begun and she had enlisted as a nurse. After a tense battle where her commanding officer saw her accuracy with a sniper, she was promoted. She was based outside Belgium after they had taken Normandy, looking through the scope. Her team member, Tom, didnât like her. He thought she had too little resolve to be a sniper. That was, until she stopped him from stepping on a mine. Obviously, their relationship grew with the continued vitality of trusting your partner, and the fact there wasnât much to do but each other. They were eating during a break after a scouting mission and he was entertaining the fantasy of marrying her. He didnât notice the grenade until it was too late.Â
iv. Greece had been their home once, too. She was the daughter of a Verdict on the council in Athens. Tom was poor. Poorer than poor, but he was brilliant and was taken on as an apprentice by her father. Tom had a way with words, weaving them together like smoke encompassed fire. Being bored with her lifestyle, she was intrigued. A handful of passionate kisses and desperate touches in the light of a torch had her mystified. She found his hunger amusing. He found her amusement arousing. They kissed, they fucked, they loved. As he rose to power, his arrogance got the better of him and he got on one manâs bad side. He returned home one day to find his beautiful wifeâs throat slit open.
v. Her favorite time was when they lived in England. They had met at a ball between curious glances and secret smiles. She had bet her cousin she could get him to walk over in less than five minutes. As always, she had been right. They met on many occasions. He was the benefactor of a wealthy fortune and she was a female of high status. It had been so easy. He wrote her poetry and had proposed in her favorite garden; he constructed a university for both genders in her honor. They had four children, all named after constellations, and he loved them. He was knighted. There were issues surrounding how much he worked. Many times she felt neglected and annoyed, but he would always relent when she affronted him on the matter. They went to theatre, they had mind-blowing sex in public places, and they once had dinner with William Shakespeare. Tom was the first to say âI love youâ.Â
vi. The final time their souls recognized each other was across a battlefield. He was trying to kill Harry Potter and she was trying to kill him. It wasnât a love story this time.
vii. His favorite time is when he finally gets to spend forever with her. They went through all the lives they had to go through. Now they could be together with no difficulties; no obstacles. He stood, looking out over the beautiful horizon. He just had to wait for her here. She wasnât long behind him. In the midst of a sunrise, he felt her presence. Turning, his heart thumped wildly as he spotted her. Chaotic curls and an inquiry on her lips: thatâs how he loved her. There was so much he wanted to say. Iâm sorry, forgive me, I didnât know. Hermione decided a kiss would suffice. She was home.
I couldnât just leave you there looking all pathetic.

The Call of the Sirens by Burrel, c.1915
do it, go into the gay ocean and be free
If your fic is 1000 words long, you canât tag it slow burn. Itâs not slow burn. That is a matchstick. And this is my personal bias here but if those motherfuckers youâre writing experience significant forward momentum in their relationship in under 5k words, then that is just a regular old burn. Slow burn should be borderline intolerable and a mistake to start reading at 2 in the morning.
If the fic doesnât have multiple scenes where two people almost kiss but then donât because of a contrived interruption that they are both grateful for and angry about, until the desperate reader is forced every other paragraph to mutter, âthis is fucking ridiculous, this is bullshit, Iâm so fucking mad, please update sooooooooooon,â then it isnât a slow burn. It is a romance and that is a lovely thing but. Slow burns should feel like being set on fire unto your death but the tinder is people not kissing and the spark is people who donât admit they love each other and the whole thing is. You know. Slow.

I wonder when exactly it was that Star Trek stopped being perceived as light, fluffy, not-really-legitimate sci fi that ~housewives~ liked and started being seen as serious nerd business that girls had to keep their gross cooties off.Â
Also when did the Beatles start to be remembered as rock legends rather than a silly boy band teenaged girls liked?
When men decided they liked them.
this is seriously exactly how it happened. Women were actually the first rock and roll âcriticsâ because they would write in to womenâs papers and magazines to share and discuss what their kids were listening to when men still thought it was trashy teeny bopper music. once it became a lucrative, mainstream genre men shoved women out of the space. Men also tend to be gatekeepers once they move into formerly female spaces - early trek fandom was incredibly open and inclusive; women would set up fan get togethers in their own houses to discuss the show or invite the actors to visit before conventions became a thing, and then were huge in organizing the first conventions - but now the stereotype of a trekkie is a nerdy white dude who scoffs derisively at casual fans and newbies with his encyclopedic and pedantic knowledge of trek
I propose we call this âmentrificationâ
