I realized something tonight.

I don't want to be bitter anymore.

I miss the girl I used to be before everything happened to me.

The girl who wanted to make people happy.

The girl who trusted people.

The girl who laughed easily.

The girl who believed that, if she was kind to the world, maybe the world would be kind back.

Somewhere along the way, I became afraid.

Everything became complicated.

Every friendship felt fragile.

Every disagreement felt dangerous.

I found myself expecting the worst before it even had the chance to happen.

I understand why.

But I don't want to live that way anymore.

I want to be happy again.

I want to laugh again.

I want to trust people again.

I want to be positive.

I want to be uplifting.

I want to make people smile.

I know I can't become the girl I was before.

Too much has happened.

But I miss her.

And I think I'd like to find her.

Wherever she might be.
