Logan was used to checking on Roman. Roman had a tendency to stay up late involved in a project, get frustrated when the quality decreased thanks to the lateness, and therefore spend far too much time trying to fix the project instead of going to sleep. Logan, for his part, often had trouble sleeping. So whenever he couldn’t sleep, he’d tiptoe down to Roman’s room and make sure the light was off.

Tonight, Roman had been awake at ten o’ clock. Logan had told him to go to sleep soon, wished him a good night, and left.

Tonight, Roman had been awake at midnight. Logan had told him to go to sleep now, wished him sweet dreams, and left.

And tonight, Roman was awake at three in the morning, and Logan was beginning to worry that something was wrong.

Summary: There was a little spot was tucked away in a corner of the Imagination, a few trees looking over a sharp cliff. Roman came here when his cuts got too deep, when his mind turned to darker thoughts.

He invited Virgil there, and maybe found a little more than he intended.

Roman leaned his cheek against the rope hanging from the tree, swinging idly on the wood plank he’d put there.

This little spot was tucked away in a corner of the Imagination, a few trees looking over a sharp cliff. He came here when his cuts got too deep, when his mind turned to darker thoughts. He rarely properly toyed with the idea of jumping, but it was nice to have the option.

After visiting it over and over, it had become tainted with sadness and resignation to the end. He’d invited the other sides there to attempt to remedy this, without telling them why.

Like they’re having dinner in a restaurant and then the camera zooms out and a few tables away Roman and Virgil slowly lower their menus and stare at them across the room

Roman angst! Or, my three am brain decided to write a sonnet, I realized how much royal and gold imagenary and now my son is crying. Enjoy!

The first time Roman sees familiar purple ink flowing across his arm, he thinks it’s a mistake. It has to be. He’s seen that particular shade of purple on Remus’s skin too often for it to be a coincidence. It’s only further confirmed when, as he hastily yanks his sleeve down, Remus bursts into his room to tell him that he’s going to the coffee shop to people watch and be weird. Just like his soulmate- Virgil- said.

Roman swallows hard, the lump in his throat only intensifying at the unabashed happiness shining in his twin’s eyes. He doesn’t say a word about the damning purple words drizzled across his skin- doesn’t even think about writing back- just wishes Remus a safe trip and tries to pretend that the pain in his lungs is from a developing asthma attack.

The second time he sees dark and light blue ink scrawling across his wrist, he thinks someone must be playing a sick joke on him. It’s not fair. Logan and Patton are also Remus’s soulmates. Is Roman so cursed that he can’t have anything to himself?
