Despite the fact that I literally roleplay Astarion in a TTRPG campaign which feels like it comes pretty naturally to me I really struggle to actually write from his perspective, and I think I’ve realized that the reason why is that Astarion, at least the version of him in my head, he doesn’t introspect, like, barely at all. Like he is so id-driven, he acts on impulse without thinking and then justifies things to himself after the fact. He’s also very un-self aware. So when I’m sitting down and trying to write out his inner monologue it feels wrong because like, I the player am thinking about his behavior on so many levels that Astarion himself is not even considering

#bg3 astarion #a part of it may also be that like #yknow in the source material you’re usually interacting him from an outsider perspective #you don’t see inside his head very often even when you play as him #so I may just not have as much of a point of reference for what his inner monologue looks like #maybe writing *about* him from another character’s perspective would be easier
