What does your Lavellan understand about Solas that makes forgiveness possible without excusing what he’s done?

Is there something your Lavellan fundamentally misunderstands about Solas, and that Solas fundamentally misunderstands about your Lavellan? What finally allows them to understand each other more clearly and how does that understanding come?

What is the dynamic between your Lavellan and your Rook?

If your Rook comes to know Solas primarily as an adversary, while your Lavellan’s experience is coloured by their love and history together, where do their interpretations of him overlap - and where do they differ?

1. Well Ilaan went through a microcosm of what happened to him during DAI. For one thing, she feels incredibly responsible for the death of her own clan because of actions she chose to take. She harbors a lot of guilt over it, regardless of how much time passes. She also understands being thrust into a leadership role and then treated like a divine object of worship when she had no experience or desire to do so. So she understands the pressure and the weight of responsibility and sacrifice. When she finds out he was a rebel trying to fight for his people and his own actions led to tragedy and obsession she does empathize with him. Of course she doesn't agree with what he tries to do as a result, but to her that is more reason to forgive and stop him, help him see sense.

2. I think Ilaan doesn't understand how he can be so bull headed and inflexible. She learned the value of searching for different solutions when something isn't working, while he is thousands of years old and still hasn't, not really. She also doesn't understand how he can hate her people (read his *own* people) for trying to do the best they can with their situation. She can't relate to doing sometime so drastic to save a way of life she has never known. As far as Solas, I don't think he fully understands Ilaan's value is a flesh and blood, concrete, living Dalish woman who is a collection of her experiences living in the Thedas he created and wishes doesn't exist. He'd like to think there is more to her, something that sets her apart as special and the only one worthy of him placing value on. Because that would be easier. In truth she is one of thousands and thousands of people worth knowing and caring for, if he only took the time and opened his heart to them. He'd see his people are intelligent, tenacious, adaptable, loving, and many more things. Things they were before the Veil and have always been. Deep down he probably knows this, but unlike Ilaan who is always close by it is easier for him to block others out. Ilaan does enough alone to derail his plans.
