Wulbren is trapped. The only thing protecting him is the thin Elfsong blanket over his head, morning light pouring through as he holds his breath, pretending to be asleep. “We can’t leave yet,” Barcus is saying. “I need to talk to Wulbren before we go.” “Wulbren'cha tsk’in’va,” Lae’zel hisses. “You can talk to him when we get back,” Shadowheart says. “We’ve got a big day ahead of us. We shouldn’t waste any more time.” “It’s not a waste of time! He’s—in danger, fiddling about with that uncongenial vampire. Wulbren’s an… unmannerly sort, but, well, I’m used to him. I can’t stand back and watch while the idiot runs headlong into a pudding pit. I may be foolish, but I’m not heartless.” “Perhaps this is one time you should be.” “Look! You see that, there on the rug? Blood!” The towel must have fallen on the floor during the night. Wulbren hears Barcus’ shoes shuffle in place on the polished floor, like he’s being held back. “Oh, Wulbren…” “You would do best to get used to the sight,” Lae’zel says. “Next I see that shka’keth, my blade will slice him from neck to navel. Shall you awaken him now, or do you wish to give him a running start?”
Astarion finds a lead. He also thinks about gnome orgies.
