In every way this is set up to be a joke like any other short video, it even uses the trope of main character in a wig to represent their mom, but it isn't funny at all. It's just sweet and nice

the Lolita podcast was talking about the problem of covers and how so many of them are just uncomplicatedly erotic imagery of sexually attractive young women and not, like, the actual themes or story of the novel. one of the graphic designers (guilty of the sexy girl type of cover) stated that he would never assign Lolita to his graphic design students. we both agreed that it would in fact be the perfect assignment to test their ability to absorb and synthesize themes into visual representation. in five minutes of half-assed brainstorming we came up with like ten different cover ideas that were better than almost anything it’d actually been published under. have standards!!!

tbh the fact that cats purr was an unnecessary bonus we don't always acknowledge. they're already cute and baby and little and soft and make silly noises and do funny shit. but they also like to cuddle and make a soothing pleasant noise to indicate they are happy when they cuddle you? huge. huge for the human race.
