i'll get straight to the point, i've tried out archery to see what it's like in the past—learned the basics and such—and for those who have never held a bow in their life, let me tell you it gets extremely tiring after shooting for more than an hour or so. so imagine how strong you must be to be shooting bows and arrows since you were a child. that is Rook Hunt, who was practically born from the womb with an archery set in his hand /j

bows have different draw weights that affect the speed, force, and distance that is needed to shoot an arrow. typically, children use bows with a 10-pound draw weight, as young adults and adults use bows with 20 pounds or more. to put this into some sort of perspective, i remember my stamina with the 20-pound bow lasted me about half an hour until my arms began to weaken and shake with how out-of-shape i am but anyways 💀

i've heard that the typical draw weight for hunting is about 40 pounds. and assuming with how long Rook has been an archer, i can imagine that he is physically well-fit enough to exceed the 20-pound draw weight and move onto more efficient bows for hunting like the 40-pound.

On top of that, Rook has a downright freakish amount of control over his vitals, monstrously good eyesight, and may or may not be a bloodhound (in all fairness, one could definitely argue he was genuinely joking, but considering one of his labwear home voicelines is him determining medicinal herbs by scent alone, I’m inclined to believe there’s some truth to this). Depending on how much you believe his little story from Endless Halloween, he also has that going for him.

sylvain is not just a flirt. he’s had a rough childhood and shoved his negative feelings out of the way in favor of jokes. his self esteem is awful and he doesn’t believe himself worthy of love, and so he never lets himself get truly attached to the people he lays with. he’s incredibly fucking smart - he figures things out at a glance that annette has been working on for hours without understanding - but sells himself short because he can’t deal with the expectations that are put on smart people. he is more than just a philanderer.

felix isn’t as cold and emotionless as he claims to be. he misses glenn dearly, and he wants to love his father but can’t forgive him for saying what equated in his mind to saying “his death was a good thing”. he says, point blank, that he’s not immune to emotion in his a support with dimitri. he is incredibly kind when it comes down to it, even if he isn’t good at showing his emotions and how he cares. he’s not just some emotionless swordmaster.

ingrid isn’t just some stick-in-the-mud. she knows how to have fun, even if she’s incredibly duty bound. she cares for her friends and family, and she cares for galatea. she hides her pain and inner turmoil about her dreams versus her duty because she feels bad burdening other people with her problems. she does what she can to help in any situation, even if the person she’s helping doesn’t realize in the moment that’s what she’s doing (see: sylvain and his flirting, bernadetta and staying in her room, felix and avoiding lectures). she knows the people she cares about better than even they know themselves, a lot of the time. she doesn’t just care about knighthood, and she isn’t stuck-up.

ashe isn’t just some soft uwu bean. he’s been through hell and back, survived on the streets with two younger siblings for years, watched as his classmates killed the man who saved him, and still manages to persevere and keep smiling. he was the only one in the blue lions who didn’t already have someone in his corner and three months in his father attacked the church, and he still kept smiling. he faced his future king despite knowing the crimes he’d committed to survive, and he still kept smiling. he cares deeply about his siblings; they are always his first priority, regardless of the situation, and he would do anything to guarantee their happiness and safety. he dreams of being a knight to help those in need, to protect those in danger, to ensure that situations like his don’t continue on forever. he helps in the greenhouse and kitchen, often putting those things above his own needs. he sees things that remind him of his loved ones and immediately wants to gift it to them (see: his a support with ingrid). his main drive is to make people happy, even if that comes at the expense of himself. he’s more than just your uwu soft boy.

mercedes has also been through hell. she watched as her mother was used by bartels to get a crested child, and then was sent away with her. she ended up with a manipulative adoptive father who just wanted to marry her off to get good standing for himself. she lost her brother and then found him as the death knight before killing him at fort merceus. she always lends an ear to anyone who needs it while rarely talking about her own problems. she takes on the role of elder sister for all the lions (see: literally all of her supports with the lions except ashe). she loves to learn (see: her supports with ashe and dedue) and is always ready to try again when she doesn’t get it right away. she’s not just a ditzy anime girl with a big chest.

annette isn’t just an overachiever. she’s one of few who allows herself to be silly, allows herself to act her age and fool around a bit. she’s highly artistic (see: her supports with ingrid, felix, claude, and kind of mercedes) and very competitive (see: her supports with lysithea). she has low self-esteem and beats herself up over her mistakes (see: her supports with byleth and caspar, how her preferred method after getting a “bad” is to console her). she’s always happy to help and loves teaching people (see: her supports with ashe, her supports with ashe in three hopes, her solo ending, and her endings with byleth, claude, linhardt, non-CF caspar, non-AM felix, dedue, mercedes, hanneman, and gilbert). yes, she’s a hard worker and has a strong drive, but that’s not all there is to her.
