I truly believe Helena coming down so hard and behaving so differently from before is why Cassie constantly feels the need to prove herself and goes to extreme lengths to do so. BUT ALSO! Helena is a *very* confident and self-assured woman. She does not let people talk down to her or shame her or let things shake her for too long.

This is a vital part of Cassie's character, esp in the backhalf of tt03 when Gar is trying to step over her. That trait absolutely primarily comes from Helena and Cassie growing up with just her mother & seeing how Helena holds herself in life and in her work. Her mom is so special to her and yes she learned a lot from Artemis and Diana, but everything Cassie is and does spins from having a loving single mother in a male dominated industry who was super work-brained.
